\nCara Cunningham<\/strong>, the Britney Spears<\/strong> fan formerly known as Chris Crocker who went viral for her 2007 \u201cLeave Britney alone\u201d video, revealed she is transitioning.<\/p>\n

The content creator took to Instagram<\/strong> to announce happ<\/a>y news<\/a> on Tuesday, writing:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been 33 years coming, and I\u2019m happy to be in a place where I can embrace who I am. I have put my identity & personal happiness aside for so long, out of fear of rejection or me not wanting to embarrass my family. Then I realized anyone who loves me for me won\u2019t be embarrassed and would\u2019ve shown genuine interest in how long I have felt this way, in the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Cunningham, who started hormone replacement therapy on Wednesday, admitted it will probably be a \u201clonely process in terms of emotional support from others,\u201d but knows this is what she needs to do not only for her own happiness but for her \u201cgender dysphoria.\u201d<\/p>\n

The social media<\/a> personality also noted that she will only respond to Cara and not Chris, saying that Crocker was simply a stage name she used to protect herself from \u201cdeath threats online as a teenager.\u201d Cara then concluded her post, expressing:<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not living out of fear or anyone else\u2019s terms any longer.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
