{"id":327537,"date":"2021-08-18T20:28:25","date_gmt":"2021-08-18T17:28:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/boston-dynamics-backflipping-robot-shows-off-new-parkour-routine\/"},"modified":"2021-08-18T20:28:25","modified_gmt":"2021-08-18T17:28:25","slug":"boston-dynamics-backflipping-robot-shows-off-new-parkour-routine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/boston-dynamics-backflipping-robot-shows-off-new-parkour-routine\/","title":{"rendered":"#Boston Dynamics&#8217; backflipping robot shows off new &#8216;parkour&#8217; routine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Boston Dynamics&#8217; backflipping robot shows off new &#8216;parkour&#8217; routine<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/boston-dynamics-002.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>Aug 17 \u2013 Boston Dynamics\u2019 humanoid robot, Atlas, has been showing off its new skill, parkour or free running atop and over obstacles.<\/p>\n<p>A new video released on Tuesday shows Atlas leaping over obstacles, doing back-flips and even falling flat on its face during practice runs.<\/p>\n<p>The company says if a robot can develop the same movement and flexibility as the average adult, then the range of potential <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lications will be practically limitless.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParkour is a useful organizing activity for our team because it highlights several challenges that we believe to be important,\u201d said Atlas team leader Scott Kuindersma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow do we connect perception to action in a way that both captures long term goals like getting from point A to point B and short term dynamic goals like adjusting footsteps and applying corrective forces to maintain balance,\u201d Kuindersma said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Atlas | Partners in Parkour\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tF4DML7FIWk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Atlas stands 5 feet tall, weighs 190 pounds, uses hydraulics and battery-powered electric motors for movement, and has three on-board computers.<\/p>\n<p>It is designed to be used as a research and development tool and its Boston Dynamics team is encouraged to push it to the limit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt can be frustrating sometimes. The robots crash a lot,\u201d said Benjamin Stephens, control lead on the Atlas team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe learn a lot from that in terms of how to build robots that can survive falling on their face and getting back up and doing it again and we also learn a lot about the behavior, the control, the thing that puts one foot in front of the other,\u201d Stephens said.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
