{"id":327763,"date":"2021-08-19T18:40:33","date_gmt":"2021-08-19T15:40:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/kevin-durants-thirty-five-ventures-inks-deal-with-weedmaps\/"},"modified":"2021-08-19T18:40:33","modified_gmt":"2021-08-19T15:40:33","slug":"kevin-durants-thirty-five-ventures-inks-deal-with-weedmaps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/kevin-durants-thirty-five-ventures-inks-deal-with-weedmaps\/","title":{"rendered":"#Kevin Durant&#8217;s Thirty Five Ventures inks deal with Weedmaps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Kevin Durant&#8217;s Thirty Five Ventures inks deal with Weedmaps<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>Thirty Five Ventures, an investment firm and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> company founded by NBA star Kevin Durant and his business manager Rich Kleiman, have inked a multiyear deal with Weedmaps in a bid to destigmatize the cannabis industry.<\/p>\n<p>Weedmaps, dubbed the \u201cYelp for pot,\u201d is a public company and e-commerce platform for cannabis and related items that also helps consumers locate dispensaries. <\/p>\n<p>The partnership with Thirty Five Ventures and its sports business media company Boardroom, will include creating podcasts and video <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> that will aim to \u201cdeconstruct the negative stereotypes\u201d associated with cannabis and conversations around \u201cthe plant\u2019s potential for athlete wellness and recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The issue has been in the spotlight in recent months after track sensation Sha\u2019Carri Richardson tested positive for marijuana use and was kept from competing in the Tokyo Olympics. <\/p>\n<p>Thirty Five Ventures\u2019 Kleiman told The Post that he had been talking with Durant about how \u201cantiquated\u201d testing for marijuana use is in professional sports.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/kevin-durant-weedmaps-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Kevin Durant at the Tokyo Olympics\" class=\"wp-image-19176675\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/kevin-durant-weedmaps-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/kevin-durant-weedmaps-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/kevin-durant-weedmaps-04.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Kevin Durant is enlisting his network to destigmatize cannabis use in sports in podcasts and a video series. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While cannabis is legal in many states and has been widely used for medicinal purposes, Kleiman noted the disconnect of the \u201cscary reality.\u201d He pointed to how frequently the Brooklyn Nets star has been tested in the NBA and in the Olympics, as well as the sad fate of Richardson\u2019s Olympic run this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are all pretty smart to know that cannabis in no way enhances your performance,\u201d Kleiman said. \u201cThe whole fact of the matter that this is a broken system was only amplified with Sha\u2019Carri Richardson. In its 13-year history, the company has helped influence cannabis policy, as well as impact weed culture via educational documentaries about the industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs one of the largest <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> providers in the sector, we are serious about our responsibility to lead the national discussion around cannabis and the need for cannabis regulations to be updated across the board,\u201d said Beals. \u201cThis partnership with Kevin Durant, Rich Kleiman, and the team at Thirty Five Ventures is a pivotal step forward in our ongoing efforts to break down stigmas surrounding cannabis, especially in the sports industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first major project is an original series slated for 2022.
