In this edition, we look at what you can expect from Wes Anderson\u2019s The French Dispatch.&lt;\/i&gt;\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<hr\/>\n<p><strong>Wes Anderson<\/strong> is such a beloved filmmaker that when he comes out with a new movie, it\u2019s usually a big event that fans have been giddily anticipating for at least a year. His latest \u2014 the first since <i>Isle of Dogs <\/i>in 2018 \u2014\u00a0is no different.<\/p>\n<p><strong><i>The French Dispatch<\/i><\/strong><i>,<\/i> (a.k.a. <i>The French Dispatch of the Liberty, Kansas Evening Sun<\/i>), is written, directed, and produced by Anderson. With story help from past writing collaborators <strong>Roman Coppola<\/strong> (<i>Moonrise Kingdom<\/i>), <strong>Hugo Guinness<\/strong> (<i>The Grand Budapest Hotel<\/i>), and <strong>Jason Schwartzman <\/strong>(<em>The Darjeeling Limited<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s everything you need to know about the upcoming movie:<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_French_Dispatch_Release_Date_and_Where_to_Watch\"><\/span>The French Dispatch Release Date (and Where to Watch)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Wes Anderson\u2019s<i> The French Dispatch<\/i> has been ready to hit theaters for over a year now. But the COVID-19 pandemic delayed its release multiple times. Following its recent Cannes Film Festival premiere (where our own Luke Hicks reviewed it), <em>The French Dispatch<\/em> is expected to finally release in US theaters on <strong>October 22, 2021<\/strong>, via Searchlight Pictures.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_French_Dispatch_Cast\"><\/span>The French Dispatch Cast<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When it comes to ensemble casts, Wes Anderson is king (we had to limit him to just two movies on our list of the best ensemble movies ever). And from the looks of it, <i>The French Dispatch<\/i> might just be his most impressive group yet. The cast includes many people whom Anderson has worked with before. Plus some exciting faces he\u2019ll be directing for the first time.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Wes_Anderson_Regulars\"><\/span>Wes Anderson Regulars<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Most of Wes Anderson\u2019s usual players are back for\u00a0<em>The French Dispatch<\/em>. Among his oldest on-screen collaborators are <strong>Bill Murray<\/strong> (his ninth Anderson feature), who stars as Arthur Howitzer Jr., the Editor in Chief of the <i>French Dispatch<\/i>. <strong>Owen Wilson<\/strong> (his eighth) is a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a> writer for the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>paper. And <strong>Jason Schwartzman<\/strong> (his seventh) plays a cartoonist for the titular publication.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adrien Brody<\/strong> (his fourth Anderson feature) plays an art dealer named Julien Cadazio. <strong>Tilda Swinton<\/strong> (her fourth) is a journalist at the <i>French Dispatch<\/i>. <strong>Frances McDormand<\/strong> (her third) is another journalist. <strong>Willem Dafoe<\/strong> (his fourth) is a prisoner. <strong>L\u00e9a Seydoux<\/strong> (her second) is a prison guard. <strong>Edward Norton<\/strong> (his fourth) is a kidn<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>er. And <strong>Liev Schreiber<\/strong> (his second) is a talk show host.<\/p>\n<p>Also, there\u2019s <strong>Saoirse Ronan<\/strong> (her second Anderson feature), <strong>Tony Revolori<\/strong> (his second), <strong>Mathieu<\/strong> <strong>Amalric<\/strong> (his second), <strong>Steve Park<\/strong> (his second), <strong>Bob Balaban<\/strong> (his fourth), <strong>Fisher Stevens<\/strong> (his third), and <strong>Wally Wolodarsky <\/strong>(his fifth). Plus: <strong>Anjelica Huston<\/strong> (her fifth) narrates the movie.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"New_Wes_Anderson_Players\"><\/span>New Wes Anderson Players<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>As if he doesn\u2019t have enough regulars to work with, Wes Anderson keeps adding to his troupe. Newcomers include <strong>Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong> (<i>Call Me by Your Name<\/i>), who plays a young revolutionary named Zeffirelli, and <strong>Lyna Khoudri <\/strong>(<em>The Specials<\/em>), who portrays another revolutionary who is also Zeffirelli\u2019s girlfriend. Also, <strong>Benicio del Toro<\/strong> (<i>Sicario<\/i>) plays Moses Rosenthaler, an artist serving a sentence in jail.<\/p>\n<p>Other fresh faces include <strong>Elisabeth Moss<\/strong> (<i>Mad Men<\/i>) as a copy editor for the newspaper, <strong>Christoph Waltz<\/strong> (<i>Inglourious Basterds<\/i>) as an art collector, <strong>Jeffrey Wright<\/strong> (<i>Westworld<\/i>) as a food journalist, and <strong>Rupert Friend<\/strong> (<i>Homeland<\/i>) as a drill sergeant.<\/p>\n<p>And rounding out the cast are <strong>Alex Lawther<\/strong> (<i>The End of the F***ing World<\/i>),<strong>\u00a0Lois Smith<\/strong> (<i>True Blood<\/i>), <strong>Griffin Dunne<\/strong> (<em>An American Werewolf in London<\/em>), <strong>C\u00e9cile de France <\/strong>(<em>Hereafter<\/em>), <strong>Guillaume Gallienne<\/strong> (<em>Marie Antoinette<\/em>), <strong>Hippolyte Girardot<\/strong> (<em>A Christmas Tale<\/em>), and <strong>Henry<\/strong> <strong>Winkler<\/strong> (<i>Happy Days<\/i>).<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Plot_of_The_French_Dispatch\"><\/span>The Plot of The French Dispatch<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The French Dispatch <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is an anthology film inspired by <em>The New Yorker<\/em>, its famed real-life writers and editors, and some of the stories it\u2019s covered. It consists of three vignettes based on vibrant stories from the eponymous fictional 20th-century newspaper. An American-run periodical based in the fictional French town of Ennui-sur-Blas\u00e9. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first installment, titled \u201cThe Concrete Masterpiece,\u201d is by J.K.L Berensen (Swinton). It focuses on an eccentric incarcerated painter (Del Toro), who falls in love with his prison guard (Seydoux). The next, \u201cRevisions to a Manifesto,\u201d is by Lucinda Krementz (McDormand). It follows a group of young French revolutionary troublemakers, which includes Chalamet and Khoudri\u2019s characters. And last, we have \u201cThe Private Dining Room of the Police Commissioner,\u201d about an incarcerated food critic (Wright).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Watch_the_Trailer\"><\/span>Watch the Trailer<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If you were worried that Anderson might have departed from his iconic style, the trailer for <i>The French Dispatch<\/i> should put your mind at ease. What made the filmmaker cast Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet in <em>The French Dispatch<\/em>? In <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/timothee-chalamet-november-2020-cover-profile\">a <em>GQ<\/em> cover story<\/a> about the popular young actor from 2020, the filmmaker gushes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI had seen Timmy in \u2018Lady Bird\u2019 and \u2018Call Me by Your Name, and I never had the inconvenience of ever thinking of anybody else for this role even for a second. I knew he was exactly right, and plus: He speaks French and looks like he might actually have walked right out of an \u00c9ric Rohmer movie. Sometime around 1985. A slow train from Paris, a backpack, a beach for ten days in bad weather.
