And if you use Google Maps, you can find very detailed information about your whereabouts.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Location_History_and_Privacy\"><\/span>Location History and Privacy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>All major tech companies and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s have some form of location tracking feature. Everyone from Apple, Google, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>, to Twitter does it. Each company uses the data in different ways.<\/p>\n<p>Apple, for example, only collects a pool of significant locations that you have visited in the past and claims it doesn\u2019t share this data with anyone. Google, on the other hand, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/195647\/googles-location-history-is-still-recording-your-every-move\/\">keeps a detailed track of all your activity, especially if you use Google Maps.<\/p>\n<p>If you open Google Maps\u2019 Timeline view, you\u2019ll be able to see exactly where you <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ed on a given day\u2014even if you didn\u2019t use Google Maps for navigation\u2014thanks to background location tracking.<\/p>\n<p>Both these services opt you in by default, but you can disable location tracking if needed.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Find_Your_Location_History_of_Your_iPhone_or_iPad\"><\/span>Find Your Location History of Your iPhone or iPad<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>First, let\u2019s talk about finding the location history on your iPhone or iPad. You\u2019ll see the map of all locations at the top of the display.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-437898\" src=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Tap-on-a-location-collection-to-view-details.png?trim=1,1&amp;bg-color=000&amp;pad=1,1\" alt=\"Tap on a location collection to view details\" width=\"650\" height=\"492\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Select one of the visits to see a detailed view of the area you visited. The detailed view will also show the time of your visit and the mode of transport along with the date.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Find_Your_Location_History_in_Google_Maps\"><\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" name=\"autotoc_anchor_2\">Find Your Location History in Google Maps<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Apple stores a limited amount of location history data and doesn\u2019t let you browse through the data in a timeline view. Google, on the other hand, has a detailed Timeline view that lets you browse through the roads you traveled through and the places you visited on a given day.<\/p>\n<p>If you use the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/google-maps-transit-food\/id585027354\">Google Maps<\/a> app on your iPhone or iPad for navigation, you can use Google Maps\u2019 Timeline feature to access your location history.<\/p>\n<p>Google Maps\u2019 ability to track your location depends on your privacy settings. You can choose to allow Google to track your location only when you\u2019re using the app or to always track your location in the background. You can change this setting on your iPhone or iPad by going to Settings &gt; Privacy &gt; Location Services &gt; Google Maps.<\/p>\n<p>If you want, you can also disable the Location History feature from your Google account settings (we\u2019ve outlined the steps below).<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/timeline\">Google Maps Timeline page<\/a> can be accessed on the web on your iPhone, iPad, or computer. For the best viewing experience, try to use a laptop or a desktop computer. You\u2019ll see the map of the world with some places highlighted. From here, you can pick any date to see the detailed breakdown of your travel data. On the right, you\u2019ll see the route you took in the map view.<\/p>\n<p>On the left, you\u2019ll see the timeline view with details of the places you visited, the time of the visit, and how long you stayed at a location. You can disable this activity by turning off <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/myaccount.google.com\/activitycontrols\">Web &amp; App Activity<\/a> in settings.<\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p>Now that you know how to look up location history on your iPhone and iPad, remember to bring it up next time you\u2019re wondering where you went and what you did on your last vacation.
