Biden says Trump is wrong to hold China accountable for coronavirus because Americans can\u2019t distinguish \u201cbetween a South Korean and someone from Beijing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The average American doesn\u2019t distinguish between Chinese people and other Asians, Joe Biden claimed, in an attempt to criticize President Trump for blaming China for the coronavirus outbreak.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook what he\u2019s doing now. He\u2019s blaming everything on China. He\u2019s blaming everything on the Chinese,\u201d the former vice president said during a virtual campaign event Wednesday with the Service Employees International Union.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople don\u2019t make a distinction, as you well know, from a South Korean and someone from Beijing,\u201d he added. \u201cThey make no distinction, it\u2019s Asian. And he\u2019s using it as a wedge.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump retweeted a video\u00a0of Biden\u2019s remarks Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, was referring to Trump\u2019s use of the phrases \u201cChina virus\u201d or \u201cWuhan virus\u201d to refer to the pandemic.<\/p>\n

He went on to accuse Trump of being a racist for \u201cthe way he deals with people based on the color of their skin, their national origin, where they\u2019re from.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo sitting president has ever done this,\u201d Biden said. \u201cNever, never, never. No Republican president has done this. No Democratic president. We\u2019ve had racists, and they\u2019ve existed. They\u2019ve tried to get elected president. He\u2019s the first one that has.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump responded Wednesday to Biden\u2019s comments during a White House coronavirus briefing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve done things that nobody else \u2013 and I\u2019ve said this, and I say it openly, and not a lot of people dispute it: I\u2019ve done more for black Americans than anybody, with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln. Nobody has even been close,\u201d the president said.<\/p>\n

Biden was roundly criticized for his remark that Trump is the first racist president.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
