There are times when a group chat goes haywire, or an app<\/a> won\u2019t stop spamming you with notifications. When this happens, just mute the notifications for the app (for an hour, or the day). We\u2019ll show you how it\u2019s done.<\/p>\n

Starting in iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, Apple has changed the way muting notifications work. The Delivery Quietly feature is now gone. Instead, it\u2019s replaced with a more straightforward Mute feature.<\/p>\n

To get started, find the offending notification from the lock screen or the Notification Center. If you\u2019re on the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen to open Notification Center.<\/p>\n

Once you find the notification, swipe left on it.<\/p>\n

Tap the \u201cOptions\u201d button.<\/p>\n

Here, you can choose the \u201cMute For One Hour\u201d or \u201cMute For Today\u201d option to quickly mute the notification.<\/p>\n

Once the app is muted, you won\u2019t get audio notifications or vibration feedback when a new notification comes in. The notifications will still be available in the Notification Center, however.<\/p>\n

And that is a good thing, because the only way to unmute an app is using Notification Center. There\u2019s no option for it in Settings.<\/p>\n

To unmute an app, find the notification in the Notification Center, and swipe left on it. Here, tap the \u201cOptions\u201d button, and choose the \u201cUnmute\u201d option.<\/p>\n

You will now receive notifications from the app like you usually do. Don\u2019t want to be bothered by an app ever again? Just disable the notifications!<\/p>\n
