{"id":328725,"date":"2021-08-22T06:14:48","date_gmt":"2021-08-22T03:14:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/we-love-nyc-concert-was-great-before-central-park-washed-out\/"},"modified":"2021-08-22T06:14:48","modified_gmt":"2021-08-22T03:14:48","slug":"we-love-nyc-concert-was-great-before-central-park-washed-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/we-love-nyc-concert-was-great-before-central-park-washed-out\/","title":{"rendered":"#We Love NYC concert was great before Central Park washed out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#We Love NYC concert was great before Central Park washed out<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>Just when you thought we were ready to fall back in love with big live concerts again \u2014 Hurricane Henri had other plans for New York City. <\/p>\n<p>The ominous HH washed out what was supposed to be a triumphant night for NYC \u2014  more than a year after the COVID-19 pandemic shook the Big <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App<\/a>le \u2014 at the We Love NYC: The Homecoming Concert on the Great Lawn of Central Park on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>Midway into the concert \u2014 as <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mewishnia\/status\/1429228806364188672\">Barry Manilow belted out<\/a> \u201cI Can\u2019t Smile Without You\u201d \u2014\u00a0the heavens opened up and pre-Henri arrived several hours earlier than expected, with the rain and lightning threat putting an end to what was turning into an epic event.<\/p>\n<p>It was as if Mother Nature was saying it was \u201ctoo soon\u201d to be celebrating overcoming COVID with cases rising due to the Delta variant. And there were plenty of other early highlights, from an ageless Carlos Santana \u201cSmooth\u201d-ing it out with Rob Thomas \u2014 and a Great Lawn full of concertgoers grooving in the grass \u2014 to Journey reminding us, even in the face of a global pandemic, to \u201cDon\u2019t Stop Believin\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And then came what, in any ol\u2019 regular Central Park concert, might have been the finale: LL Cool J and a host of other New York hip-hop legends \u2014 including Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe and Rev. Run of Run-DMC \u2014 rocked the stage in a performance that ran from Busta\u2019s \u201cPut Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See\u201d and Fat Joe\u2019s \u201cLean Back\u201d to LL\u2019s own classic \u201cMama Said Knock You Out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an aqua velour sweatsuit, LL, at 53, was still the epitome of cool in the late-August humidity.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Then de Blasio came out to a chorus of boos before introducing the legendary R&amp;B band Earth, Wind &amp; Fire. And the elements truly took over after their performance, with Hurricane Henri stopping the night before the Killers, Bruce Springsteen and Paul Simon could even take the stage.<\/p>\n<p>While CNN teased that the concert might begin again \u2014 perhaps with no audience and some holdouts who refused to leave \u2014 eventually Anderson Cooper called it a wrap: The Homecoming was officially gone.
