Source: TradingView<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E2%80%9CModestly_bearish%E2%80%9D_signs_accompany_50000_run-up\"><\/span>&#8220;Modestly bearish&#8221; signs accompany $50,000 run-up<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/ETHUSD\/\">TradingView<\/a>\u00a0showed BTC\/USD hitting a high of $49,830 on Bitstamp Sunday \u2014 itself a three-month record.<\/p>\n<p>The weekend had proven the staying power of higher levels, with even lower volumes failing to spark a comedown.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So far, so good for BTC,&#8221; trader and analyst Rekt Capital <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rektcapital\/status\/1429154829830660104\">summarized<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, as $50,000 loomed, concerns began to mount about the overall strength of the market. <\/p>\n<p>As noted by monitoring resource Material Indicators, trader habits were hinting at belief in lower levels returning. One futures setup involved $32,000 and $34,000 for the August and September end-of-month settlements respectively.<\/p>\n<p>This, the account <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Mtrl_Scientist\/status\/1429181307473563655\">argued<\/a>, was &#8220;modestly bearish.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In addition, we still have a lot of 50k puts, suggesting we get rejected here,&#8221; it added, also highlighting the &#8220;overhepositive funding rates across trading platforms.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-08\/11dbcdc4-a166-4221-a11a-54cf4fae126c.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Bitcoin funding rates chart. Source: Bybt<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Such a perspective naturally grates with the overall consensus among analysts, notably with the stock-to-flow models and their creator&#8217;s &#8220;worst case scenario&#8221; for minimum prices each month.<\/p>\n<p>For August, this stands at $47,000, while September&#8217;s $43,000 expectation is only lower for technical reasons, PlanB explained this week.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">September $43K floor \/ worst case is not a typo. The small dip is caused by the data. However, it is a worst case estimate, my base case is of course the S2F estimate. Also, October $63K worst case \/ floor is more in line again.
