<\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>       U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy again criticized the role of social media in spreading COVID-19 misinformation Sunday, a day after Facebook Inc. quietly released a delayed report on its top-performing links.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cThe speed, scale and sophistication with which [misinformation] is spreading and impacting our health is really unprecedented,\u201d\u00a0Murthy said Sunday morning during  an interview on <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/videos\/tv\/2021\/08\/22\/sotu-murthy-full-interview.cnn\" class=\"icon none\">CNN\u2019s \u201cState of the Union.\u201d<\/a> \u201cAnd it\u2019s h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening largely, in part, aided and abetted by social-media platforms.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       While acknowledging that some steps have been taken by social-media companies to crack down on the spread of misinformation, Murthy said \u201cit\u2019s not nearly enough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are people who are superspreaders of misinformation,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd there are algorithms, still, which continue to serve up more and more misinformation to people who encounter it the first time. These are things that companies can and must change. And I think they have a moral responsibility to do so quickly and transparently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Murthy cited an online myth that spurred the Food and Drug Administration to tweet Saturday that  people should not use a drug intended for livestock as a treatment or to prevent COVID-19.
