{"id":329142,"date":"2021-08-18T20:03:34","date_gmt":"2021-08-18T17:03:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/roblox-players-keep-recreating-mass-shootings-in-video-game\/"},"modified":"2021-08-18T20:03:34","modified_gmt":"2021-08-18T17:03:34","slug":"roblox-players-keep-recreating-mass-shootings-in-video-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/roblox-players-keep-recreating-mass-shootings-in-video-game\/","title":{"rendered":"#Roblox players keep recreating mass shootings in video game"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Roblox players keep recreating mass shootings in video <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a><\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>Roblox players keep recreating mass shootings inside the popular video game \u2014 and the company isn\u2019t doing it enough to stop it, an extremism researcher claims.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Users of the free online game \u2014 which Roblox says has been played by more than half of all US children under the age of 16 \u2014 have repeatedly recreated the 2019 Christchurch massacre in New Zealand, in which a white supremacist gunman killed 51 people at two mosques, according to Anti-Defamation League researcher Daniel Kelley.<\/p>\n<p>Kelley posted screenshots of one example, a recreation of the mosque where the massacre occurred, on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Twitter<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI swear to God, I would like one time to search for \u2018Christchurch\u2019 on Roblox and not find a new recreation of the 2019 Christchurch mosque shooting on a game platform aimed at very young children,\u201d Kelley wrote on Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kelley <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/8\/17\/22628624\/roblox-moderation-trust-and-safety-terrorist-content-christchurch\">told the Verge<\/a> that he had also seen recreations of the Christchurch massacre in Roblox in January 2020 and in May.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"\/>\u201cWe promptly removed this experience from Roblox after it was brought to our attention and suspended the user responsible for violating our<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.proofpoint.com\/v2\/url?u=https-3A__en.help.roblox.com_hc_en-2Dus_articles_203313410-2DRoblox-2DCommunity-2DRules&amp;d=DwMFaQ&amp;c=LhSjPbDPFIdii02n7QB92Q&amp;r=iRmGGKsR6d7N0rKc7owCVogGCUjqTrBJ9UClrHdO2wM&amp;m=e8D0usnu7kawnL-9HP6TQ3q1P01QqgIduu1RzJcPr3E&amp;s=4i6SWW36I8ZSaFFe8boL0ndqBoHBU-TAeUGdGjqFELE&amp;e=\"> Community Rules<\/a>,\u201d a Roblox spokesperson told The Post. \u201cWe do not tolerate racism, discriminatory speech, or content related to tragic events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moderating content associated with the Christchurch massacre is difficult because Christchurch is the second largest city in New Zealand, the spokesperson added. Banning the term \u201cChristchurch\u201d would be like banning the term \u201cNew York\u201d because of 9\/11, the spokesperson argued.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time Roblox has been criticized for hosting extremist content.
