Over the last year or so, Google Maps has received several updates and improvements, all of which make it more useful. Many of those features come from Waze, which it acquired back in 2013. However, one feature that users constantly request is seeing actual toll costs during navigation instead of only avoiding them.<\/p>\n

Waze added toll costs back in 2019, and now nearly three years later, it looks like Google Maps may finally get the same love. According to a message sent to testers in Google Maps\u2019 preview program, an automatic display of toll roads and bridges prices is coming soon.<\/p>\n

According to reports, Google Maps toll road costs could be displayed during navigation before a user chooses a specific route. As a result, Maps users can pick either the fastest or the cheapest route.<\/p>\n

And while Google Maps shows which routes have tolls already, that\u2019s all it offers. Being able to see how much a specific navigation route will cost is a big deal.\u00a0This could change a user\u2019s route decision by delivering more useful information.<\/p>\n

Keep in mind that Waze says that its toll costs are only an estimate, especially with traffic-based tolls, often reported by the Waze community. Estimates are based on the day and hour of the week, vehicle type, axle count, route, and more. So while Google Maps tolls may not be 100-percent accurate, it\u2019ll be a welcomed addition.<\/p>\n
