{"id":329814,"date":"2021-08-25T00:13:52","date_gmt":"2021-08-24T21:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/112-mph-roller-coaster-closed-for-injuring-riders\/"},"modified":"2021-08-25T00:13:52","modified_gmt":"2021-08-24T21:13:52","slug":"112-mph-roller-coaster-closed-for-injuring-riders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/112-mph-roller-coaster-closed-for-injuring-riders\/","title":{"rendered":"#112 mph roller coaster closed for injuring riders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#112 mph roller coaster closed for injuring riders<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>A \u201cdeath-defying\u201d roller coaster \u2014 capable of achieving a speed of 112 mph in 1.56 seconds \u2014 is under investigation for potentially causing serious injury to a number of passengers.<\/p>\n<p>The Do-Dodonpa coaster at Fuji-Q Highland, at the foot of Mount Fuji in the Yamanashi prefecture of Japan, is now closed until further notice.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/travel\/article\/dodonpa-roller-coaster-japan-accidents-intl-hnk\/index.html\">obtained by CNN<\/a>, four riders ages 30 to 50 have reported \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/travel\/article\/dodonpa-roller-coaster-japan-accidents-intl-hnk\/index.html\">bone-breaking<\/a>\u201d injuries that were sustained while on the ride between December 2020 and August 2021, including cervical and thoracic spine fractures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, the causal relationship between injuries and amusement machines has not yet been confirmed,\u201d the park\u2019s statement read.<\/p>\n<p>In an identical message, Sansei Technologies, Do-Dodonpa\u2019s manufacturer, also said the \u201ccausal relationship between the injuries of passengers and the amusement machine \u2026  is not confirmed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Do-Dodonpa \u2014 also the name of a popular Japanese music genre of the 1960s and \u201970s \u2014 stands up to 161-feet in the air at its loop and is assembled of 4,080 feet of track. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/roller-coaster-037.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=735\" alt=\"the Dodonpa\" class=\"wp-image-19231600\" width=\"352\" height=\"486\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/roller-coaster-037.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=698 704w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/roller-coaster-037.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=523 528w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/roller-coaster-037.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=349 352w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/roller-coaster-037.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=174 176w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/roller-coaster-037.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 352px) 100vw, 352px\"\/><figcaption>The Do-Dodonpa is more than 4,000 feet of track reaching heights over 160-feet.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Corbis via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Fuji-Q triggered a government investigation when the park failed to submit regulatory reports regarding the injuries within a 30-day time limit set by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mainichi.jp\/english\/articles\/20210821\/p2a\/00m\/0na\/004000c\">according to the Mainichi<\/a>. Park officials have maintained that Fuji-Q and Sensei\u2019s own internal investigation determined that one of the victims, a woman in her 30s, was seated improperly, allegedly that she \u201cmight have been leaning forward during the ride.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Similar incidents occurred in May and July 2021, but after finding no issue with their machinery, Do-Dodonpa\u2019s designs and Fuji-Q decided the onus was on the passengers \u2014 not the coaster.<\/p>\n<p>With the most recent incident, on Aug. 2, the park finally shut down the ride and reported all four injuries to the prefecture government.<\/p>\n<p>Fuji-Q has a reputation for daring rides.
