Upon its release, <strong><i>Scenes from a Marriage<\/i><\/strong> received tremendous critical acclaim. Later condensed to feature-length, it also won numerous film awards.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the series is being remade in America. The new <em>Scenes from a Marriage <\/em>is written and directed by <strong>Hagai Levi <\/strong>(<i>The Affair<\/i>) and executive produced by <em>A Most Violent Year\u00a0<\/em>co-stars\u00a0<strong>Oscar Isaac<\/strong> and <strong>Jessica Chastain<\/strong>, who also lead the new version onscreen.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s everything you need to know about <em>Scenes from a Marriage<\/em>:<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Scenes_From_a_Marriage_Release_Date_and_Where_to_Watch\"><\/span>Scenes From a Marriage Release Date (and Where to Watch)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The first episode of the <em>Scenes From a Marriage<\/em> remake premieres on HBO on <strong>September 12, 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Scenes_From_a_Marriage_Cast\"><\/span>Scenes From a Marriage Cast<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to follow performances by acting giants like Liv Ullmann and Erland Josephson, who starred in Bergman\u2019s original. Fortunately, the <i>Scenes From a Marriage<\/i> redo has some power-players in its cast. <strong>Oscar Isaac<\/strong> plays Jonathan, and <strong>Jessica Chastain<\/strong> plays his wife, Mira. Not only did they previously act together in <i>A Most Violent Year<\/i>, but fun fact: they were also classmates at Juilliard.<\/p>\n<p>The cast also includes <strong>Sunita Mani<\/strong> (<i>GLOW<\/i>), <strong>Nicole Beharie<\/strong> (<i>Shame<\/i>), <strong>Corey Stoll<\/strong> (<i>House of Cards<\/i>), and <strong>Tovah Feldshuh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Scenes_From_a_Marriage_Plot\"><\/span>Scenes From a Marriage Plot<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Bergman\u2019s <i>Scenes From a Marriage<\/i> starts with a seemingly h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>y marriage between Johan and Marianne. As we get to know the characters more, however, it becomes clear that the foundations of their relationship are subject to something rotten and sinister. Johan reveals to Marianne that he is having an affair with a younger woman, and the two split up. What follows is years and years of desire, torment, heartache, and passion between the two, who can\u2019t seem to stay away from one another for too long.<\/p>\n<p>As a remake, the American version of <i>Scenes From a Marriage<\/i> likely tells the same story as its predecessor. There do seem to be a few differences, however. The protagonist\u2019s careers are different, and now the wife, Mira, is the one who initiates the initial split.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Watch_the_Trailers\"><\/span>Watch the Trailers<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Partway through the main trailer for <i>Scenes From a Marriage<\/i>, Mira says: \u201cYou just believe that, as a couple, nothing can hurt you. And then you gradually start to realize that actually, anything can hurt you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clearly, we are in for a world of heartbreak with this show. Sometimes, that isn\u2019t such a good thing. In a 2008 <em>Guardian <\/em>article, Ingmar Bergman scholar Birgitta Steene <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2008\/jul\/30\/ingmar.bergman\">recounted the way<\/a> the original <i>Scenes From a Marriage <\/i>infiltrated culture when it was on the air:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOn Wednesday nights the streets were empty because everyone was at home watching <i>Scenes From a Marriage<\/i>. It was so popular it is said to have increased the national divorce rate, as spouses were able to finally articulate their grievances towards each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>That might be a bit of a stretch.
