Although the term became more popular as years passed, Chicago rapper King Louie not only takes credit for inventing the phrase more than a decade ago, he has the proof to show for it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI invented that shit \u2026 Chiraq Drillinois,\u201d Louie told DJ Vlad in a recent interview. \u201cThat was a mixtape, an old mixtape. I don\u2019t know when I put it out. This was after Pack died. I was big on <em>Call Of Duty<\/em>, that\u2019s when <em>Call Of Duty<\/em> was first going crazy, <em>Black Ops<\/em> and shit. They had the dude sitting on the cover and there was an artist who made the cover with me sitting on the cover and I named it <em>Chiraq Drillinois<\/em>. Wasn\u2019t nobody talking about no drill before us, before that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cIt was Chiraq Drillinois back then, it was still bussin\u2019 back then. The world crazy now. It wasn\u2019t just the city but the world crazy as fuck now. But the city was crazy back then too. That\u2019s why motherfuckas was callin\u2019 it Chiraq.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the now controversial term and how it took on a life of its own, complete with a Spike Lee movie of the same name, Louie didn\u2019t hold back in highlighting the difference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I was saying that shit \u2026 we fake older. It\u2019s an age gap, kinda,\u201d he said. \u201cWe were losing more friends than everybody else at that point in time. So it hit harder \u2026 it really hit me like, that\u2019s where the music come from. You speak from the soul. That added fuel to my creativity with the <em>Chiraq<\/em> shit. But once other people start gettin\u2019 killed? Motherfucka don\u2019t wanna claim that shit no more. Now it\u2019s hittin\u2019 home. Now this shit really Chiraq, cause your people got killed. And it\u2019s been going on and on and on, and that\u2019s why people don\u2019t like it no mo\u2019. But that\u2019s what the fuck it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Louie details the issues in Chicago as \u201cBlack history\u201d and how educators don\u2019t want to explain how various systems in the city helped create the problems within.
