We recognize that issues like this can hurt that trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I got the reply and panicked someone accessed my account or made withdrawals. Immediately logged in and reset my password after verifying nothing h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 AJ \u200d\u26be\ufe0fl\u200d (@AgedMcNugget) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AgedMcNugget\/status\/1432015770771496960?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 29, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>Despite Coinbase\u2019s apology, many of its users reported taking significant measures in response to the email while fearing that their accounts were being targeted by hackers, including overhauling security settings and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2021\/08\/30\/coinbase-mistakenly-notified-users-that-security-settings-had-been-changed.html\">liquidating<\/a> their crypto holdings.<\/p>\n<p>Comments on the exchange\u2019s social media also suggest that numerous customers were unable to access the Coinbase app for several days after the incident.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Same here. the app still says \u201cwe\u2019re having connection issues\u201d while other Coinbase users I know, who didn\u2019t get the SMS yesterday, can still log in.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dr. Andrevius Barnaby II (@AndreviusB) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AndreviusB\/status\/1431746880585621507?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 28, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue to work to gain back the trust of every one of our customers who was impacted by those notifications,\u201d Coinbase added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The firm also announced it is reimbursing users with $100 worth of Bitcoin (BTC).<\/p>\n<p>The exchange posted its apology in the r\/Coinbase subreddit on Aug. 30 to mixed <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/CoinBase\/comments\/pdzior\/erroneous_2fa_notifications\/\">reactions<\/a> from customers. <\/p>\n<p>Redditor \u201cCoCraic_PNW\u201d claimed they were yet to receive the promised $100 credit despite having received the 2FA message on both Coinbase and Coinbase pro, pledging to move their business to another exchange in light of the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFilm2021\u201d also stated that they were yet to receive the $100 BTC worth of credit and are currently looking to migrate their funds from Coinbase to a rival exchange. <\/p>\n<p>However, not everyone is wielding their pitchforks at Coinbase, with Redditor \u201cLeagance\u201d praising the firm for promptly offering compensation for its error:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust got my $100. Thanks Coinbase. Regardless of the situation it was nice to know how quickly and easily I was able to lockdown my account if there was some sort of 2FA change.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: Bitstamp and Ledger execs weigh customer service debate after Coinbase saga<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The incident comes just days after it was reported that thousands of disgruntled customers claim their Coinbase accounts were hacked and emptied. <\/p>\n<p>According to a CNBC story <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/08\/24\/coinbase-slammed-for-terrible-customer-service-after-hackers-drain-user-accounts.html\">published<\/a> Aug. 24, thousands of users assert that Coinbase\u2019s support has failed to respond to requests for help relating to the alleged incident. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cInterviews with Coinbase customers around the country and a review of thousands of complaints reveal a pattern of account takeovers, where users see money suddenly vanish from their account, followed by poor customer service from Coinbase that made those users feel left hanging and angry,\u201d CNBC wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Coinbase announced a new support phone line for customers who believe their account has been hacked.<\/p>\n<p><template data-name=\"subscription_form\" data-type=\"markets_outlook\"><\/template><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
