The crowd was worried that the government would start paying their pensions in Bitcoin instead of the U.S. dollar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know this coin fluctuates drastically. Its value changes from one second to another, and we will have no control over it,\u201d a member of the Supreme Court of Justice&#8217;s workers&#8217; union, Stanley Quinteros, reportedly <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/salvadorans-protest-over-countrys-plans-075402604.html\">said<\/a>. El Salvadorans also expressed concerns over the lack of knowledge and understanding of the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> needed to use cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. As such, some protesters reportedly <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.laprensagrafica.com\/elsalvador\/Inicia-concentracion-de-veteranos-de-guerra-que-se-dirigiran-hacia-Ministerio-de-Hacienda-20210827-0014.html\">demanded<\/a> a pension increase from $100 to $300.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related:\u00a0El Salvador\u2019s Bitcoin adoption may transform remittances in Central America<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The latest anti-Bitcoin protests in El Salvador followed some growing skepticism about the country\u2019s Bitcoin move. Last week, the Salvadoran Association of International Freight Carriers reportedly initiated anti-Bitcoin protests, reportedly <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.merca20.com\/en-el-salvador-ciudadanos-se-manifiestan-contra-bitcoin\/\">demanding<\/a> the government to reconsider mandatory acceptance of Bitcoin in El Salvador.<\/p>\n<p>As previously reported by Cointelegraph, Salvadoran president Nayib Bukele announced legislation to accept Bitcoin as legal tender alongside the U.S. dollar in early June. The bill later passed the nation&#8217;s Legislative Assembly and is scheduled to be enforced on Sept. 7. Last week, the president clarified that Salvadorans would be free not to use Bitcoin, stating:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhat if someone doesn&#8217;t want to use Bitcoin? Don\u2019t download the Chivo app and continue living your normal life. Nobody is going to take your dollars.
