{"id":332712,"date":"2021-08-30T18:47:20","date_gmt":"2021-08-30T15:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/astra-space-stock-plummets-after-space-force-launch-failure\/"},"modified":"2021-08-30T18:47:20","modified_gmt":"2021-08-30T15:47:20","slug":"astra-space-stock-plummets-after-space-force-launch-failure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/astra-space-stock-plummets-after-space-force-launch-failure\/","title":{"rendered":"#Astra Space stock plummets after Space Force launch failure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Astra Space stock plummets after Space Force launch failure<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>Astra Space\u2019s rocket isn\u2019t the only thing that\u2019s falling from the sky.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Shares of the much-hyped US space company fell nearly a quarter on Monday after one of Astra\u2019s rockets dramatically malfunctioned over the weekend while on a test mission for the US Space Force.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Astra Space stock opened down 24 percent at $8.87 on Monday before recovering somewhat to $9.41 at mid-morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That marks a serious fall from grace for the California-based rocket maker, which saw its shares trade above $15 in July shortly after it went public through a SPAC deal at valuation of $2.1 billion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, an Astra Space rocket malfunctioned during a test flight in Kodiak, Alaska when one of the rocket\u2019s five main engines shut down in a plume of smoke shortly after leaving the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The loss of one engine caused the rocket to teeter sideways before fully taking off, throwing it off course as it accelerated toward space for two and a half minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Astra engineers then shut down all the rockets\u2019 engines before it reached orbit, causing the craft to plummet back to the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Astra rocket suffers anomaly during orbital launch attempt\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kfjO7VCyjPM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The company \u2014 which had also raised $100 million from backers including BlackRock, Airbus, ex-Disney CEO Michael Eisner and Salesforce co-founder Marc Benioff before going public \u2014 has never successfully put a rocket into orbit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Saturday\u2019s failed Astra launch was the company\u2019s first commercial mission.
