\u201cWe don\u2019t break the law, we bend it\u201d Mike McLusky (Jeremy Renner<\/a>) tells his mother, Miriam (Dianne Wiest<\/a>), in the first trailer for Paramount+\u2019s Mayor of Kingstown<\/em><\/a>. But she knows exactly what her son does \u2014 he\u2019s just like his father.<\/p>\n

Mike may not be the real mayor, but he does run the city (hence the nickname, the title of the show) \u2014 and the real mayor knows it too, as the trailer makes clear while offering a look at what\u2019s going on in and out of the prisons in Kingstown.<\/p>\n

Also keeping things in line is Mike\u2019s older brother, Mitch (Kyle Chandler<\/a>), a fixer in and out of the prison system. \u201cHe\u2019s going to have to keep his mouth shut, and he\u2019s going to have to do what he\u2019s told,\u201d he\u2019s seen saying in the action-packed preview.<\/p>\n

Taylor Sheridan\u2019s<\/a> Paramount+ drama follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the only thriving industry is the business of incarceration. While tackling theme<\/a>s of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the drama provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town without either.<\/p>\n

Mayor of Kingstown<\/em> also stars co-creator Hugh Dillon, Pha\u2019rez Lass, Tobi Bamtefa, Emma Laird, Derek Webster and Taylor Handley. Joining the cast are series<\/a> regulars Aidan Gillen<\/a> and Hamish Allan-Headley and 10 recurring guest stars, according to Deadline<\/em><\/a>. Gillen\u2019s Milo Sunter is the leader of the Russian mob serving a life sentence in the supermax, while Allan-Headley is playing Robert, a SWAT captain on the drug task force.<\/p>\n

Necar Zadegan<\/a> will play Assistant District Attorney Evelyn Foley, one of Kingstown\u2019s power brokers. Michael Beach and Rob Kirkland are playing police captains Kareem Moore and Walter, respectively. James Jordan and Madela Van Peebles are playing prison guards Ed Simmons and Sam (who\u2019s \u201cin over his head\u201d), respectively.<\/p>\n

Andrew Howard\u2019s Duke is a former inmate and a key member of the Aryans. Natasha Marc\u2019s Cherry is an inmate at the women\u2019s prison. Nichole Galicia is playing Mike\u2019s \u201cfiercely loyal assistant\u201d Rebecca, while Jason Kelley\u2019s Tim Weaver is Mike\u2019s colleague from the prison. And Nishi Munshi is playing Kyle McLusky\u2019s wife Tracy.<\/p>\n
