“#’The Walking Dead’ Boss Scott M. Gimple on the CRM & Walker Evolution (VIDEO)<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The Walking Dead<\/em>\u2018s Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple is opening up about one of Dead<\/em>\u2018s biggest secrets.<\/p>\n

The mysterious Civic Republic Military (CRM), first introduced in the flagship series<\/a>\u2019 eighth season, has played a very important role in the Walking Dead Universe \u2014 especially since the murky military operation basically abducted Dead<\/em>\u2018s hero Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) via one of their many black helicopters. The group is also heavily involved in the latest spinoff The Walking Dead: World Beyond<\/em> and has dipped in and out of Fear the Walking Dead<\/em>, most recently seen rescuing many of our favorite Fear<\/em> characters from the nuclear blasts in Season 6\u2019s ender.<\/p>\n

Gimple, who transitioned from Dead<\/em>\u2018s exec producer in 2018 to overseer of the franchise, calls the CRM, \u201cone connective aspect of the universe.\u201d And he notes, the writers have been very careful with just how much they divulge about the operation itself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way I\u2019ve been really encouraging us to go about that is by making it significant to the characters on the show,\u201d Gimple told us for TV Guide Magazine\u2019s The Walking Dead Universe Special Collector\u2019s Issue<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI mean, obviously, on Walking Dead,<\/em> it was pretty significant\u2026but it really is to serve their stories. We do get little morsels about the CRM, learning more about them, and that\u2019s important, but we try to do it in a way that it [is] about that show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Our guess: We\u2019re about to learn a heck of a lot more about the CRM and what their deal is, especially when both Fear<\/em> and World Beyond<\/em> return in October, with many of the two show\u2019s characters in the CRM\u2019s custody.<\/p>\n
