One could say the retelling has been flipped on its head faster than you can say \u201cBibbidi Bobbidi Boo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHavana\u201d singer (and former Fifth Harmony member) Camila Cabello leads the film as the ambitious dress designer, Ella, whose goal is to start her own business \u2014 not meet and charm a prince. \u201cOur Ella is witty, vocal, and unwavering in her desire to make a life for herself,\u201d says director Kay Cannon (<em>Pitch Perfect<\/em>). \u201cShe\u2019s not sitting in a basement waiting to be saved. In fact, she\u2019s put <em>herself<\/em> in the basement to work on her dress designs without interference from her stepmother. She\u2019s got big dreams and is determined to not let anything get in the way of achieving them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The flick also includes<i> Pose<\/i>\u2019s Billy Porter as her magical godparent, dubbed \u201cThe Fab G,\u201d which is, \u201cshort for fabulous,\u201d says Cannon. \u201cHe shows up for Cinderella right when she needs him the most,\u201d the director adds, and in the best outfit imaginable, thanks to costume designer Ellen Mirojnick (just wait \u2019til you see it!). And, if you\u2019re wondering why <em>Cinderella<\/em>\u2018s ballgowns look so spot-on dreamy, it\u2019s because Mirojnick is also responsible for the romantic, bodiced looks on Netflix\u2019s hit Regency-era drama, <em>Bridgerton<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Rounding out the musical\u2019s cast is Broadway star Idina Menzel as Ella\u2019s multilayered stepmother Vivian, Nicholas Galitzine (<em>Chambers<\/em>) as dashing Prince Robert, Pierce Brosnan as the stoic King Rowan, and Minnie Driver as his tireless wife, Queen Beatrice. Also, keep an eye out for late-night host James Corden as one of Ella\u2019s hilarious mice\/footmen. These characters will sing, but not \u201cA Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes.\u201d Instead, the cast belts chart-toppers, like Des\u2019ree\u2019s \u201cYou Gotta Be\u201d and Queen\u2019s \u201cSomebody to Love,\u201d plus brand-new originals written by Menzel and Cabello. \u201cI love our arrangement of \u2018Am I Wrong\u2019 [by Nico &amp; Vinz], in which we see the entire cast getting ready for the ball,\u201d teases Cannon.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cinderella - Official Trailer | Prime Video\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/T1NeHRuPpoM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;\" class=\"mce_SELRES_start\"\/><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And in this refreshing take, Ella is, simply put, a badass. \u201cAside from the music, which updates and contemporizes the story in a fun and entertaining way, what makes this version so unique is that we give Cinderella more strength and agency over her life,\u201d says Cannon. She continues: \u201cIn previous versions, Cinderella did whatever she was told and waited to be saved. When our Cinderella is told no, she is tenacious, refusing to let anything stand in her way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo This Is Love\u201d?
