“#Subaru\u2019s First EV Doesn\u2019t Look Like a Subaru \u2013 Review Geek”<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the initial announcement back in May, today, Subaru is showing off more photos and revealing new details about its first EV, the Solterra. Named after the Latin words for \u201cSun\u201d and \u201cEarth,\u201d Solterra represents Subaru\u2019s effort to deliver an environmentally-friendly SUV for the masses. And while the EV looks nice, it doesn\u2019t really look like a Subaru.<\/p>\n

During the name unveiling earlier this year,\u00a0the Japanese carmaker didn\u2019t share too many photos, not to mention only a few very minor details about the electric vehicle. This week though, we\u2019re getting several looks<\/a> at the exterior, the rear, and one of its impressive interior, along with release details.<\/p>\n

On Subaru\u2019s new webpage, it had this to say about the new EV:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Solterra EV brings the Subaru brand\u2019s trusted reliability, state-of-the-art safety technology<\/a>, and legendary all-wheel-drive engineering to an environmentally responsible all-electric SUV. The Subaru Solterra electric SUV \u2014 the natural evolution of Subaru all-weather, all-road performance \u2014 is scheduled to go on sale in 2022.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The interior features a large Tesla-Esque touchscreen display and what looks like several other buttons and controls, sitting peacefully under the stars as many Subaru owners plan on doing with it.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Solterra\u00a0electric car<\/a>\u00a0will come with Subaru\u2019s \u201cSymmetrical All-Wheel Drive,\u201d which suggests a drivetrain likely to have one motor for each axle. That said, we\u2019ll have to wait and see what else the company has up its sleeve. This week Subaru also shared an image of the vehicle\u2019s rear, showing off a familiar logo, Subaru, and AWD emblem. Personally, this is the only aspect of the Solterra that reminds us of a Subaru.<\/p>\n

As you read above, the Solterra will officially go on sale in 2022, likely later in the year, and be listed as a 2023 model year electric vehicle. There\u2019s no word yet on pricing, but many believe it\u2019ll come in starting around $37-$39k.<\/p>\n
