When the company took that concept a step further with this <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fluidstance.com\/collections\/desk-organization\/products\/lift\">Lift<\/a>, which combined a whiteboard with a laptop stand, I knew I had to jump on it. Unfortunately, it\u2019s not the hit I hoped it would be.<\/p>\n<div class=\"review-card-body-inline\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<div class=\"pros\">\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Heres_What_We_Like\"><\/span>Here&#8217;s What We Like<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>A good way to make a laptop stand more useful<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cons\">\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"And_What_We_Dont\"><\/span>And What We Don&#8217;t<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Big and bulky<\/li>\n<li>The surface is too upright to comfortably write on<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The idea is pretty straightforward: It\u2019s a laptop stand that you can write on. It\u2019s the same construction and aesthetic as the Slope, so you can get all matchy-matchy if you want both. You might want to get a bigger desk first, though.<\/p>\n<p>The Lift\u2019s writing area is about 6.25 inches tall, with the entire unit coming in at around 9 inches tall. It\u2019s 11.5 inches wide on the front side, and a whopping 10.5 inches deep. That last measurement is key here because this is a pretty thicc boi\u2014it takes up a lot of desk space. That may not be so bad if you use your laptop for most work and are looking to build a more ergonomic setup with an external keyboard and mouse, but if you pair your laptop with an external screen, you\u2019ll be looking at a pretty big chunk of your desk taken by the Lift.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1920px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-95839 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2021\/08\/f8725700.jpg\" alt=\"The Lft from the side, showing how deep it is\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" data-credittext=\"Cameron Summerson\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">boi iz thicc <span class=\"imagecredit\">Cameron Summerson<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>But that\u2019s really not even my biggest grievance with the Lift stand. My issue comes with the writable area\u2014it\u2019s just too vertical to comfortably write on. It\u2019s not completely upright like a wall-mounted whiteboard would be, but the angle also isn\u2019t subtle enough to write on without crooking your wrist into an uncomfortable position.<\/p>\n<p>If you use the Lift as a laptop stand without an external monitor, it\u2019s hard to write on without getting your elbows all over the external keyboard. It\u2019s funky. It\u2019s a little better if you pair your laptop with an external screen and set the Lift off to the side, but then it can get awkward to write on if you\u2019re too far away. I couldn\u2019t really find an ideal situation here, save for not using it as a laptop stand and just setting it off to the side of my desk \u2026 which totally defeats the purpose. In that case, the Slope is a much better choice. On the upside, if you do find a way to use it comfortably, it\u2019s very stable when you write on it. It\u2019s not a bad product\u2014it\u2019s just not ideal. If you\u2019re looking for a \u201cperfect\u201d solution, this ain\u2019t it, homeboy. It\u2019s fine as a laptop stand, but if that\u2019s all you want it for, there are likely better, more compact solutions on the market.<\/p>\n<p>But if you\u2019re looking for something to quickly jot notes on and don\u2019t care about how tidy those notes are, you might love the Lift. As bulky as it is, it\u2019s still more compact than having a separate laptop stand <i>and<\/i> desktop whiteboard. And for that, I have to give credit to Fluidstance\u2014this is a unique product. I couldn\u2019t find anything else like it on the market.<\/p>\n<p>So, for a very specific user\u2014the one who is a full-time laptop user, wants a whiteboard, and doesn\u2019t have room for a stand and separate whiteboard\u2014the Lift is the best option. Because it\u2019s the only option.
