Williams was 54 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Kenneth Williams was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1966. One of his first acting roles came as High Top in the 1996 movie <em>Bullet<\/em>. Williams has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2014\/06\/30\/326934053\/a-brawl-at-bar-brought-michael-k-williams-his-big-break\" class=\"external-link\" data-event-click='{\"element\":\"ExternalLink\",\"outgoingURL\":\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2014\/06\/30\/326934053\/a-brawl-at-bar-brought-michael-k-williams-his-big-break\"}' href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2014\/06\/30\/326934053\/a-brawl-at-bar-brought-michael-k-williams-his-big-break\">said<\/a> that the film\u2019s co-star Tupac Shakur saw a photo of him and suggested the casting. In 2002, Williams debuted as Omar Little in the first season of <em>The Wire<\/em>, a role he\u2019d reprise through the show\u2019s fifth and final season. Williams also portrayed Sergeant James in several chapters of R.
