Source: TradingView<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hedging_bets_against_a_%E2%80%9Cswift_downwards_move%E2%80%9D\"><\/span>Hedging bets against a \u201cswift downwards move\u201d<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tradingview.com\/symbols\/BTCUSD\/\">TradingView<\/a>\u00a0showed BTC\/USD fluctuating around the $51,000 mark on Tuesday after losing $2,000 in two hours earlier in the day.<\/p>\n<p>Overnight, the pair hit fresh highs of nearly $53,000, coinciding with bullish momentum on the back of El Salvador becoming the first sovereign state to officially adopt Bitcoin as a currency.<\/p>\n<p>Now, $50,000 is once again a deal-breaker for bulls and bears alike, says Cointelegraph contributor Micha\u00ebl van de Poppe.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, Bitcoin needs to hold the area between $49,500 and $50,000 in order to preserve its trajectory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf that is holding, we\u2019re going to look at $58,000 next,\u201d he said in his latest <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7jtneD_ZOmY\">YouTube update<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIf it doesn\u2019t hold, I\u2019m going to look at $44,000 next, as there might be a swift downwards move.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Van de Poppe added that there was no reason for concern at levels above $50,000, regardless of Tuesday\u2019s volatility, which he argued constitutes a \u201cvery healthy\u201d move after the breakout.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRetest is now in progress,\u201d fellow trader and analyst Rekt Captial <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/rektcapital\/status\/1435182744305274883\">echoed<\/a>, highlighting a \u201ckey\u201d area to hold at around $50,300.
