On your Windows 11 PC, you might have several different audio output devices hooked up, such as speakers, headphones, headsets, or otherwise. Here\u2019s how to tell Windows 11 which sound device you want to use as the default for audio and communications.<\/p>\n

First, open Settings (press Windows+i) and navigate to System > Sound. Or, you can right-click the speaker icon in your taskbar and select \u201cSound Settings.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Sound settings, locate the \u201cOutput\u201d section and click the arrow beside the audio output device that you\u2019d like to set as your default.<\/p>\n

\"Click<\/p>\n

On the Properties page for the sound device that you selected, look for the \u201cSet as default sound device\u201d option, which includes a drop-down menu labeled \u201cNot used as a default,\u201d \u201cIs default for audio,\u201d or \u201cIs default for communications\u201d beside it.<\/p>\n

(If you don\u2019t see this option, then this device is already set as the default for both audio and communications.)<\/p>\n
