{"id":337467,"date":"2021-09-10T16:36:23","date_gmt":"2021-09-10T13:36:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/grubhub-doordash-uber-eats-sue-nyc-over-restaurant-fee-caps\/"},"modified":"2021-09-10T16:36:23","modified_gmt":"2021-09-10T13:36:23","slug":"grubhub-doordash-uber-eats-sue-nyc-over-restaurant-fee-caps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/grubhub-doordash-uber-eats-sue-nyc-over-restaurant-fee-caps\/","title":{"rendered":"#Grubhub, DoorDash, Uber Eats sue NYC over restaurant fee caps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Grubhub, DoorDash, Uber Eats sue NYC over restaurant fee caps<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>Grubhub, DoorDash and Uber Eats sued New York City late Thursday evening over the city\u2019s new law that places a permanent cap on commissions third-party food delivery companies can charge restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>The three largest food-delivery companies filed the suit in federal court in New York, arguing that the law is harmful and an unconstitutional act of government overreach.<\/p>\n<p>The cap, which\u00a0limits the amount that the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>s can charge restaurants to 15 percent of food orders for delivery services, has cost the companies\u00a0hundreds of millions of dollars\u00a0combined through July, the suit argued.<\/p>\n<p>The new bill, if signed by Mayor Bill de Blasio, would indefinitely extend the temporary cap that was\u00a0first implemented in June 2020 in order to help restaurants weather the pandemic\u00a0after many restaurants complained apps were charging fees as high as 30 percent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit says that the 15 percent cap on fees was \u201crandomly selected\u201d and said the \u201ccity made no effort to study the economic impact and sustainability of the cap\u201d on fees.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the 15 percent cap on food orders, the proposed permanent extension includes a 5 percent fee for advertising and other miscellaneous services and 3 percent for credit card processing fees.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The companies are seeking an injunction that would prevent\u00a0enforcement of the ordinance, unspecified monetary damages against the city and a jury trial.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit comes as the companies face heightened scrutiny of such fees in several other cities around the country. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/deliveries-97.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\" An Uber Eats delivery person rides a bicycle in Kips Bay on March 19, 2021 in New York City.
