It\u2019s about time Amazon<\/a> got into the softcore porn biz. The digital giant already lets us order a toilet plunger while watching prestige TV. Why not toss in some smut, too?<\/p>\n

That\u2019s really all the streamer\u2019s new movie \u201cThe Voyeurs\u201d is \u2014 gussied-up smut.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Writer-director Michael Mohan\u2019s \u201cdrama\u201d tries to be a modern \u201cRear Window\u201d (emphasis on \u201crear\u201d), but Hitchcock it ain\u2019t. \u201cThe Voyeurs\u201d is a cheap, never-ending trifle that takes itself more seriously than \u201cHamlet.\u201d<\/p>\n

We meet Pippa (Sydney Sweeney, of HBO\u2019s sexy \u201cThe White Lotus\u201d) and Thomas (Justice Smith), a bland millennial couple (redundant, perhaps) who\u2019ve just moved into a spectacular Montreal apartment they could absolutely never afford in real life. <\/p>\n

Then, instead of being well-behaved Canadians who eat poutine and say \u201csorry\u201d a lot, they decide to spy on the couple across the street having sex.<\/p>\n

At first they\u2019re titillated by the whoopie, but the peek soon turns into a dangerous infatuation. The doe-eyed duo start using binoculars to get a close-up view and they rig a high-tech listening device to hear what their hot, nympho neighbors are saying behind closed doors. Becoming pervs, surprise surprise, spices up Pip and Tom\u2019s sex life.<\/p>\n

They eventually meet sexy Seb (Ben Hardy) and Julia (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) when they crash their Halloween party\/orgy. The masked scene is like \u201cEyes Wide Shut,\u201d<\/a> but Stanley Kubrick would\u2019ve sooner directed an episode of \u201cBlue\u2019s Clues\u201d than this dreck. After that, there is more sex, sex, sex and a dollop of betrayal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
