Will Ferrell stars as anxiety-plagued textile boss Martin \u201cMarty\u201d Markowitz, whose sister, Phyllis (Kathryn Hahn), first encourages him to see psychiatrist Isaac \u201cIke\u201d Herschkopf (Paul Rudd) in the \u201980s.<\/p>\n

Over the years, manipulative Ike infiltrates Marty\u2019s company and bank account, and fractures his relationship with suspicious Phyllis. Still, the line between victim and villain isn\u2019t black and white.<\/p>\n

\u201cMarty and Ike need each other in this weird way,\u201d says exec producer and director Michael Showalter (The Big Sick<\/i>), who, along with Rudd and Ferrell, spent time with the real Markowitz in New York\u2019s Hamptons, where much of the story unfolds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe show is funny, but it\u2019s also about people who are struggling and have a lot of pain \u2014 including Ike \u2014 and deal with it in different ways.\u201d<\/p>\n
