These transactions flooded the transaction processing queue, and lack of prioritization of network-critical messaging caused the network to start forking.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Solana Status (@SolanaStatus) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SolanaStatus\/status\/1437856638279487493?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 14, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>With Solana\u2019s engineers unable to stabilize the network, its validator community opted to coordinate a restart of the network. Solana\u2019s community is currently preparing a new release, with further information expected to be released soon.<\/p>\n<p>The incident has knocked confidence in Solana, with prices falling by 15% in 12 hours. While SOL had already retraced from its Sept. 9 all-time high of $215 to trade below $175 prior to the incident, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> of the outage quickly saw prices slide down to $145.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.cointelegraph.com\/uploads\/2021-09\/269200b9-1427-4e5e-83dc-1eccb103cf73.png\"><figcaption style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>SOL\/USD: CoinGecko<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Solana is not the only high-profile crypto network to have suffered downtime on Sept. 14, with Ethereum layer-two rollup network Arbitrum One <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/offchainlabs\/arbitrum-one-outage-report-d365b24d49c\">reporting<\/a> its sequencer had gone offline for roughly 45 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>While Arbitrum One emphasized that user funds \u201cwere never at risk,\u201d new transactions could not be submitted during the period.
