{"id":339830,"date":"2021-09-15T22:01:28","date_gmt":"2021-09-15T19:01:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/network-retaliated-after-i-filed-sex-assault-suit\/"},"modified":"2021-09-15T22:01:28","modified_gmt":"2021-09-15T19:01:28","slug":"network-retaliated-after-i-filed-sex-assault-suit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/network-retaliated-after-i-filed-sex-assault-suit\/","title":{"rendered":"#Network retaliated after I filed sex-assault suit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Network retaliated after I filed sex-assault suit<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>An ABC <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> staffer is claiming that the network retaliated against her after she filed a sexual assault lawsuit against her then-boss, Michael Corn, who was the top producer of the network\u2019s marquee show, \u201cGood Morning America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kirstyn Crawford, a producer on the show, sued Corn, who allegedly sexually assaulted her, and ABC, claiming the network \u201cswept\u201d that incident and other complaints against the senior executive producer \u201cunder the rug\u201d when it was brought to their attention. <\/p>\n<p>Now, in an updated version of the lawsuit filed Wednesday, Crawford claims that after she formally registered her complaint at ABC, the network didn\u2019t renew her three-year contract, offering instead a six-month extension with no raise.<\/p>\n<p>In her lawsuit, Crawford, 31, a producer for\u00a0anchor <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/tag\/george-stephanopoulos\/\">George Stephanopoulos<\/a>\u00a0on \u201cGMA,\u201d says Corn sexually assaulted her after a work party when he was drunk during a reporting <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> to Los Angeles in 2015. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/abc-sexual-assult-10.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Michael Corn, who had been a top producer of ABC News\u2019s \u2018Good Morning America,\" class=\"wp-image-19464125\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/abc-sexual-assult-10.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/abc-sexual-assult-10.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/abc-sexual-assult-10.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Michael Corn, who had been a top producer of ABC News\u2019 \u201cGood Morning America,\u201d left the company in April amid sexual assault complaints.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The suit, which is filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, also alleges that former ABC News producer Jill McClain was sexually assaulted by Corn when the two worked together roughly a decade ago. McClain, who left ABC in 2013, isn\u2019t a plaintiff in the suit but is supporting Crawford\u2019s case, the complaint said. <\/p>\n<p>Corn, who exited ABC News in April, has denied any wrongdoing. ABC News did not respond to requests seeking comment on Crawford\u2019s allegation that the network retaliated against her. <\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-nypost-medium-post\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"322\" height=\"451\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/kirstyn-crawford-002.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=322\" alt=\"Kirstyn Crawford\" class=\"wp-image-19291739\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/kirstyn-crawford-002.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=644 644w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/kirstyn-crawford-002.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=483 483w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/kirstyn-crawford-002.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=322 322w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/kirstyn-crawford-002.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=161 161w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/08\/kirstyn-crawford-002.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 322px) 100vw, 322px\"\/><figcaption>Kirstyn Crawford, 31, is suing Michael Corn and ABC.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The lawsuit also claims that ABC forced Corn, who\u2019d managed \u201cGMA\u201d since 2014, to resign, but that, \u201ckeeping in line with ABC\u2019s culture of sweeping sexual assault under the rug to protect its brand, ABC did not publicly acknowledge Corn\u2019s malfeasance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This includes several complaints over roughly a decade by women at ABC, as well as Crawford\u2019s de<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion of the 2015 incident in LA that started in an Uber after a work party with the team covering the Oscars, according to the suit.<\/p>\n<p>Despite her efforts to \u201cpull away,\u201d a drunken Corn pulled her head into his chest and began kissing her and rubbing her legs while in an Uber together. During the ride, he \u201cgrabbed Crawford\u2019s hand and told her that he wanted to be able to help her with her career,\u201d the court papers said.<\/p>\n<p>When they got to the hotel, Corn allegedly pretended to lose his room key in a \u201cdevious ploy\u201d to get into Crawford\u2019s room. According to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/abc-news-staffer-claims-network-retaliated-after-she-filed-sexual-assault-complaint-11631711723?st=2p2sd0hpm3k4xkd&amp;reflink=desktopwebshare_twitter\">the Wall Street Journal<\/a>, which first reported the lawsuit, Stephanopoulos has said the suit\u2019s depiction of his actions is accurate.<\/p>\n<p>Crawford said in the suit that she did not make a \u201cformal complaint\u201d to ABC until earlier this year, in February. According to the updated lawsuit, that complaint came six months before the end of her three-year contract as a producer for Stephanopoulos.<\/p>\n<p>The network traditionally approaches employees a few months before a contract expires to renegotiate a new contract, the lawsuit said. Crawford is currently working at ABC News without a contract.<\/p>\n<p>Sources told the Journal that after Crawford and McClain, who was allegedly assaulted by Corn on an airplane in 2010 and in a London hotel room in 2011, made complaints to ABC, the network conducted an investigation and pushed him out. The newspaper also reported that the network also\u00a0held \u201cunsuccessful <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tion\u201d talks with the two women in June. <\/p>\n<p>When news of the lawsuit came out in August, newly hired <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/s-president-calls-for-probe-of-assault-allegations-report\/\">ABC News president Kim Godwin called for an independent investigation<\/a> into how the network handled the allegations, but <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/09\/02\/media\/abc-news-disney-reliable-sources\/index.html\">CNN recently reported<\/a> that her calls for a probe have \u201cinfuriated\u201d her bosses at ABC parent Disney.\n                        <\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
