{"id":340050,"date":"2021-09-15T19:41:02","date_gmt":"2021-09-15T16:41:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/european-regulator-probes-tiktok-on-childrens-data-china-ties\/"},"modified":"2021-09-15T19:41:02","modified_gmt":"2021-09-15T16:41:02","slug":"european-regulator-probes-tiktok-on-childrens-data-china-ties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/european-regulator-probes-tiktok-on-childrens-data-china-ties\/","title":{"rendered":"#European regulator probes TikTok on children&#8217;s data, China ties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#European regulator probes TikTok on children&#8217;s data, China ties<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>A key European privacy regulator has opened two probes into TikTok\u2019s handling of user data, adding to the popular Chinese <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>\u2019s regulatory woes on both sides of the Atlantic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ireland\u2019s Data Protection Commission, which is the European Union\u2019s main regulator for companies like TikTok parent ByteDance that have established their regional headquarters in Ireland, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dataprotection.ie\/en\/news-media\/latest-news\/dpc-launches-two-inquiries-tiktok-concerning-compliance-gdpr-requirements-relating-processing\">said<\/a> late Tuesday that it is investigating the app\u2019s processing of children\u2019s data and transfers of user data to China.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The watchdog provided few details on the probes but said it first will examine TikTok\u2019s data protection \u201crequirements as they relate to the processing of personal data in the context of platform settings for users under age 18 and age verification measures for persons under 13.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The second probe will center on \u201ctransfers by TikTok of personal data to China,\u201d the group said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ireland\u2019s Data Protection Commission has the authority to impose fines of up to 4 percent of a company\u2019s global revenue.
