{"id":340456,"date":"2021-09-17T07:34:35","date_gmt":"2021-09-17T04:34:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/faa-grounds-fox-news-drones-in-texas-near-sheltering-migrants\/"},"modified":"2021-09-17T07:34:35","modified_gmt":"2021-09-17T04:34:35","slug":"faa-grounds-fox-news-drones-in-texas-near-sheltering-migrants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/faa-grounds-fox-news-drones-in-texas-near-sheltering-migrants\/","title":{"rendered":"#FAA grounds Fox News drones in Texas near sheltering migrants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#FAA grounds Fox <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News<\/a> drones in Texas near sheltering migrants<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) instituted a two-week flight restriction over the city of Del Rio, Texas late Thursday \u2014 preventing Fox News from operating a drone that it had been using to capture images of thousands of migrants sheltering under a bridge as they wait to be picked up by Border Patrol. <\/p>\n<p>The FAA\u2019s website said that the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/tfr.faa.gov\/save_pages\/detail_1_9857.html\">Temporary Flight Restriction<\/a> (TFR) over the Del Rio Port of Entry and the International Bridge was put in place for \u201cSpecial Security Reasons,\u201d but did not elaborate. <\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the FAA said, \u201cthe Border Patrol requested the temporary flight restriction due to drones interfering with law enforcement flights on the border. As with any temporary flight restriction, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a> is able to call the FAA to make requests to operate in the area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox News national correspondent Bill Melguin told Tucker Carlson Thursday night that he found the timing and location of the TFR to be \u201ca little bit curious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to point out, Fox News has been at the border for the better part of seven months now,\u201d Melugin said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been using the drone the entire time. It\u2019s never been an issue. All of a sudden, the last 24 hours, we start showing these images at this bridge and a TFR goes up. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) who was in Del Rio Thursday night, slammed the restriction as \u201cridiculous\u201d and said he had \u201cnever seen anything like that.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe drone footage started this morning, and people across the country were horrified, and I guess the political operatives at the Biden White House saw that and decided the last thing they want is Fox News actually reporting on what\u2019s h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ening down here,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz told Fox News\u2019 Sean Hannity that the scene under the bridge was \u201cthe most horrific thing I\u2019ve ever seen. Right now, as we\u2019re speaking, there are 10,503 people under that bridge. It is packed in as a mass of humanity. The scope of it, until you see it \u2026 it just goes on and on and on. Infants, little children, people struggling enormously.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>Fox News has reported that most of the migrants who wait under the bridge are Haitians and their numbers have increased from around 4,000 Wednesday morning to the number quoted by Cruz Thursday night. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a man-made crisis,\u201d the senator said. \u201cEight days ago, on Sept. 8, under that same bridge, there were between 700 and 1,000 people. That was what was coming a day \u2014 about 1,000, sometimes 1,100 \u2014 but it would range between 700 and 1,100. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen, eight days ago on Sept. 8, the Biden administration made a political decision: They announced that they were no longer going to fly <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/latino\/572588-advocates-in-utter-disbelief-after-biden-resumes-haitian-repatriations\">deportation flights back to Haiti<\/a>,\u201d Cruz added. \u201cEighty-five percent of the people under there are from Haiti. That was eight days ago \u2026 eight days later, and 700 people have grown to 10,500 because the word has gone out: If you\u2019re from Haiti, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have said, \u2018We have open borders, come to Del Rio and they will let you in\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Austin, Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott initially announced Thursday that he had directed state law enforcement to close six ports of entry and claimed federal officials were \u201crequesting our help as their agents are overwhelmed by the chaos.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Hours later, the Texas <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TxDPS\/status\/1438616912414580738\">Department of Public Safety (DPS) tweeted<\/a> that US Customers and Border Protection (CBP) had asked the agency if \u201cwe would be able to assist them with shutting down ports of entry in the Del Rio sector and we prepared to do so. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur partners have advised us that shutting down ports of entry is no longer part of their strategy,\u201d DPS added.<\/p>\n<p>Abbott then issued a second statement, which said that the Biden administration \u201chas now flip-flopped to a different strategy that abandons border security and instead makes it easier for people to cross illegally and for cartels to exploit the border.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden Administration is in complete disarray and is handling the border crisis as badly as the evacuation from Afghanistan,\u201d the governor added. \u201cI have directed the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas National Guard to maintain their presence at and around ports of entry to deter crossings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latest controversy erupted one day after confirmed that border officials had encountered 208,887 migrants at the southwestern frontier in August. That total, while slightly down from the 213,534 migrants encountered in July, marks the first time that more than 200,000 migrant encounters have been recorded in consecutive months since February and March of 2000 (211,328 and 220,063 respectively).<\/p>\n<p>Through the first eight months of this year, officials have stopped 1,323,597 migrants attempting to cross the US-Mexico border.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
