This excitement seems obvious to some but maybe a little baffling to others. Why should we care about the guy with the arrows? <strong>Jeremy Renner<\/strong> was never Chris Evans or Chris Hemsworth. Fans didn\u2019t bother to find other hot Jeremys to wage war over.<\/p>\n<p>Well, Renner has very little to do with the joy rupturing across the internet regarding the advertisement for the upcoming Disney+ series. It\u2019s the content that matters, and it\u2019s how Disney is using one of their most beloved source materials to inject thrills where there weren\u2019t any before. And this weaponizing of the comic books is very different from their current <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach in the <strong><em>What If\u2026?<\/em><\/strong> series.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Marvel Studios\u2019 Hawkeye | Official Trailer | Disney+\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5VYb3B1ETlk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Comic_Book_Inspiration_for_the_Hawkeye_TV_Series\"><\/span>The Comic Book Inspiration for the Hawkeye TV Series<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Matt Fraction<\/strong> and <strong>David Aja<\/strong>\u2018s <em>Hawkeye<\/em> comic book from 2012 is one of the most beloved Marvel storylines of the last ten years. Scratch that, the last twenty years. Scratch that, ever. The initial set-up is preciously street level. <strong>Clint Barton<\/strong> (a.k.a. Hawkeye, a.k.a. Hawkguy) decides to step up and help his neighbors when their landlord raises the rent catastrophically.<\/p>\n<p>From there, he partners with his <strong><em>Young Avengers<\/em><\/strong> copycat <strong>Kate Bishop<\/strong>, and the two of them tumble into a dark underworld populated by annoyingly unrelenting goons and mobsters with supervillain connections.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0<em>Hawkeye<\/em> trailer, <strong>Hailee Steinfeld<\/strong>\u2018s Kate Bishop is front and center. Her comic book counterpart is far droller than the fangirl we see here, pushing Clint into a more mentor role. She\u2019s taken on his <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ronin_(Marvel_Comics)\">Ronin persona<\/a> from <strong><em>Avengers<\/em>: <em>End<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, and she\u2019s attracting the attention of the enemies he made when he was trapped in his darkest, most rageful moment.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Meet_the_Tracksuit_Draculas\"><\/span>Meet the Tracksuit Draculas<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Throughout the\u00a0<em>Hawkeye<\/em> trailer, we see various bald goons wrapped in tracksuits. These bumbling pests are straight outta Fraction and Aja\u2019s series. They\u2019re the <strong>Tracksuit Draculas<\/strong>, Eastern European mobsters brought in to push Clint and his friends from the neighborhood. Their egos are as strong as their numbers, and they delight in mocking their enemies by punctuating their sentences with \u201cBro.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While we do not hear a single \u201cBro\u201d uttered in the trailer, we do see the word painted across the van that Kate Bishop explodes with Clint\u2019s not-deadliest arrow. These punks sparked plenty of discourse online this week, and it\u2019s clear that if \u201cBro\u201d is not rattled incessantly during the show, fans will cry betrayal.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">For those wondering about all the Bro&#8217;s in my replies, grab Hawkeye by Matt Fraction and David Aja (2012-2015) from your local comics shop.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 John Rogers (@jonrog1) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jonrog1\/status\/1437421339422257157?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 13, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Lucky_the_Pizza_Dog\"><\/span>Lucky, the Pizza Dog<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Even more important to Fraction and Aja\u2019s <em>Hawkeye<\/em> comics is <strong>Lucky, the Pizza Dog<\/strong>. This little pupper begins the series as a guard dog for the Tracksuit Draculas, but during Clint\u2019s first rumble with them, the pooch jumps sides, defending Hawkeye from his masters. From this point forward in the series, Lucky is just another Avenger sidekick, so beloved that he even got his own solo adventure in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.marvel.com\/comics\/issue\/42772\/hawkeye_2012_11\"><em>Hawkeye<\/em> #11<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lucky symbolizes the resilience required in the superhero game. To make it in Marvel Comics, you gotta learn to take a beating. Lucky has suffered so much, but he keeps getting back up and fighting the good fight. The same can be said for Clint Barton.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Hawkeye<\/em> trailer goes out of its way to show the punishment Clint receives as a thank you for his heroism. When he says goodbye to his daughter, we spot a hearing aid in his ear. They take a beating and keep on ticking. Hawkeye doesn\u2019t have that luxury. And what we see in the trailer for the <em>Hawkeye <\/em>series is how brutal it can be for Clint Barton to jump from rooftops and throw himself into a gang war.<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy Renner is selling those punches and falls. His Hawkeye can barely take it anymore, collapsing into chairs and slapping icepacks on his broken face. These cuts and gashes are critical to the appeal of Fraction and Aja\u2019s comic. How do you differentiate Clint Barton from Steve Rogers? You lean into the pain that Clint experiences every time he\u2019s lucky enough to walk away from a fight.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_If%E2%80%A6_Killmonger_Rescued_Tony_Stark\"><\/span>What If\u2026 Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The reverence the <em>Hawkeye<\/em> trailer shows for a particular comic book storyline is an extremely different reverence than the one shown in the <em>What If\u2026?<\/em> series. The animated adventures are not looking to sell you on a single character. They\u2019re pushing your excitement toward the multiverse. They\u2019re hyping you for <strong><em>Spider<\/em>\u2013<em>Man<\/em>: <em>No Way Home<\/em> <\/strong>and <strong><em>Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve your glee, they\u2019re diving into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and not the comic book source material. This week\u2019s episode, \u201c<strong>What If\u2026 Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?<\/strong>\u201d pulls us back to the beginning, revealing how Killmonger\u2019s presence in Afghanistan at the time when the Ten Rings attack Stark\u2019s convoy radically alters the MCU timeline. Every deviation is a high-five to the longtime MCU stans.<\/p>\n<p>Your enjoyment depends on how invested you are in what came before in the movies, not the comic books. But, in our department, we had a big screen TV that played every single one of the Marvel movies on a 24-hour loop. They were just always there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>What If\u2026?<\/em> could only come from Marvel Studios. They put in the time, made a crazy assortment of building blocks, and can now rearrange them in different ways to tell new stories. And in telling these <em>What If\u2026?<\/em> sidequests, they strengthen their previous efforts. Phase Four is fortifying the MCU.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"We_Will_Heart_Hawkeye\"><\/span>We Will Heart Hawkeye<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Where Marvel has total confidence in the products they\u2019ve developed over the years, they\u2019re also not afraid to tweak and improve. Clint Barton never sparked rabid fervor amongst the MCU fanbase. If anything, he ignited derision, his family farmhouse sequence being a perceived sore spot within <strong><em>Avengers<\/em>: <em>Age of Ultron<\/em><\/strong>. Let\u2019s not even get started discussing how his <em>Avengers<\/em>: <em>Endgame<\/em> survival trumped Black Widow\u2019s even before she got her big-screen showcase.<\/p>\n<p>However, the MCU has had Matt Fraction and David Aja\u2019s comic book series in their back pocket. They\u2019ve been waiting to drop this gem on their movie audience, using Clint Barton\u2019s painful humanity as his greatest attraction, not defect. Like the <strong><em>Black Widow <\/em><\/strong>movie, we\u2019re watching a baton pass from one hero to the next. When the Disney+ series concludes, we\u2019ll have another Hawkeye in play, and she\u2019s the superior version.<\/p>\n<p>Kate Bishop can do everything Clint can do, but better. When she tells him that she\u2019s the \u201cworld\u2019s greatest archer,\u201d we should believe her. Her skills consistently surpass Clint\u2019s in the comics, but maybe even more importantly she has her life together in a way that he does not.<\/p>\n<p>The MCU Clint doesn\u2019t struggle with the living situation like his comic book alter ego, but clearly his time as Ronin and the death of Black Widow have soured his soul. Movie Clint can\u2019t show his kids the torment rushing through him and the sense of failure surrounding him, but he will reveal everything to Kate. And Kate, in return, will help him sort out his demons.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the <em>Hawkeye<\/em> trailer, we\u2019re wading into an adventure saga featuring two wounded dynamos. They\u2019re the best at what they do, but they can\u2019t achieve their full potential without each other. And while the Avengers can\u2019t be bothered with low-level jerks like the Tracksuit Draculas, Clint and Kate have nothing better to do.
