“#Gabby Petito\u2019s ‘Odd’ Final Text Revealed In Unsealed Search Warrant

\nAlthough Gabby Petito<\/strong>\u2019s body is believed to be found, there\u2019s still a lot of mystery surrounding her final days.<\/p>\n

While many of the puzzle pieces that make up this case have been revealed to the public, there are still a lot of questions concerning what happ<\/a>ened to Gabby, and why. Many spectators assume those questions could be answered by her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie<\/strong> \u2014 but he, too, has disappeared, making the facts of the case look all the more suspicious.<\/p>\n

On Monday, a search warrant was unsealed for a hard drive found in the van that Gabby and Brian had used to travel<\/a> across the country. The warrant (which can be read in full HERE<\/a>) revealed a number of communications from Gabby. The document stated that the 22-year-old sent \u201cmultiple text messages\u201d and \u201chad many talks\u201d with her mother, Nichole Schmidt<\/strong>, during her trip.<\/p>\n

Alarmingly, police officer Daniel Alix<\/strong> noted:<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring these conversations there appeared to be more and more tension between her and Laundrie.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Her mother became particularly suspicious after getting what she characterized as an \u201codd text\u201d from Gabby on August 27, which read:<\/p>\n

\u201cCan you help Stan, I just keep getting his voicemails and missed calls.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Per the warrant, the YouTube<\/a>r<\/strong>\u2019s grandfather is named Stan<\/strong> \u2014 but her mother pointed out that Gabby would never call him by his first name. The warrant stated:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mother was concerned that something was wrong with her daughter. This is the last communication anyone had with the subject.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Innerestingly, Nichole had previously told DailyMail.com<\/a><\/em>\u00a0that Gabby\u2019s final text, from August 30, said:<\/p>\n

\u201cNo service in Yosemite.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

At the time, Nichole hadn\u2019t revealed the contents of any other messages from Gabby, but claimed \u201cthe things she was saying\u201d was \u201ca little bit weird.\u201d She raised the possibility that Brian had sent the texts from Gabby\u2019s phone to mislead the family about her location.<\/p>\n

Now, though, the unsealed warrant stated that the \u201cStan\u201d text was her final communication. (The warrant, dated September 15, did say that the phone had been shut off for \u201capproximately 15 days,\u201d so August 30 is still in the window of possibility.) Officer Alix explained:<\/p>\n

\u201cHer cellphone was no longer operational, and she stopped posting anything on social media about their trip. Per her family, this was not normal behavior for the subject, and they became more worried about her.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We\u2019re not sure what to make about the discrepancy of these \u201cfinal texts,\u201d but regardless it sounds like Nichole\u2019s intuition was correct that something strange was happening with her phone. Whether or not it was Brian sending those messages remains to be seen. Hopefully the recent search of his family home will turn up more clues \u2014 if Brian doesn\u2019t turn up himself.<\/p>\n
