{"id":342459,"date":"2021-09-21T22:29:59","date_gmt":"2021-09-21T19:29:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/cambodian-students-build-manned-drone-to-aid-community\/"},"modified":"2021-09-21T22:29:59","modified_gmt":"2021-09-21T19:29:59","slug":"cambodian-students-build-manned-drone-to-aid-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/cambodian-students-build-manned-drone-to-aid-community\/","title":{"rendered":"#Cambodian students build manned drone to aid community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Cambodian students build manned drone to aid community<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>PHNOM PENH, Sept 21 \u2013 Inspired at first by a desire to beat their city\u2019s notorious traffic, a group of Cambodian students have designed a prototype drone that they hope can eventually be used to ferry people around Phnom Penh and even help fight fires.<\/p>\n<p>With eight propellers and using a school chair for the pilot\u2019s seat, the drone was developed by students at the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC) on the outskirts of the capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe drone, when we see it flying without a pilot, there is a lot of shaking but when I sit on it and fly\u2026 it becomes more stable and I feel so excited,\u201d said Lonh Vannsith, 21, the pilot of the drone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wanted to solve some problems for our society by making a taxi drone and\u2026 inventing drones for firefighters,\u201d he said, noting how, for example, they hoped it could reach the upper floors of a building to bring a hose where a fire truck could not reach.<\/p>\n<p>The prototype can carry a pilot weighing up to 60 kg (132 pounds) and fly for about 10 minutes for a distance of 1 km (0.6 miles).
