She beckons the late-night viewer to come closer before launching into a vintage Saturday midnight movie \u201ccr\u00e8me de la crap\u201d horror film, as she calls it, many of which were shot low-budget in Mexico or Italy.<\/p>\n<p>The woman behind the Elvira brand, Cassandra Peterson, now 70, spent four decades building her iconic macabre persona into an international cult icon. Now, in <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Yours-Cruelly-Elvira-Memoirs-Mistress\/dp\/0306874350\/ref=sr_1_1?crid=L1MAW6GLNYRQ&amp;dchild=1&amp;keywords=cruelly+yours+elvira&amp;qid=1631802568&amp;sr=8-1&amp;tag=nypost-20\">\u201cYours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark\u201d<\/a> (Hachette, out September 21), she details her trick-or-treat life in a candid memoir revealing her 19-year romantic relationship with a woman \u2014 a female whom she only identifies as \u201cT\u201d \u2014 as well as encounters with some of the celebrity world\u2019s biggest names \u2014 among them late basketball star Wilt Chamberlain, whom she claims forced oral sex on her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen a 7-foot-1, 300-pound man has his hand wrapped around your neck, there\u2019s really not a lot you can do,\u201d she writes of the athlete, who boasted in his 1991 memoir <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0679404554\/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_hsch_vapi_thcv_p1_i0?tag=nypost-20\">\u201cA View From Above\u201d<\/a> that he had slept with 20,000 women in his lifetime.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had to wonder how many of those women actually consented to having sex with him,\u201d writes Peterson. <\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_19527250\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-19527250\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/elvira-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Cassandra Peterson\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/elvira-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/elvira-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/elvira-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span>Cassandra Peterson would become famous worldwide as \u201cElvira, Mistress of Dark.\u201d But before that, she was a rebellious teen from Kansas (inset).<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Born in 1951 in Manhattan, Kansas, Cassandra\u2019s parents were farmers in the neighboring, smaller town of Randolph. An accident that occurred when 18-month-old Cassandra was home alone would later, ironically, turn out to be \u201cone of the best things to ever happen to me.\u201d The toddler had dragged a kitchen chair over to the stove to inspect eggs her mother was boiling for Easter. She lost her balance and grabbed onto the handle of the cast-iron pot, pulling it over on her. The scalding water etched third-degree burns into her skin, melted the hair on her head and fused her eyelids shut. There were frequent fights, slaps in the face and orders to leave the house.  <\/p>\n<p>She moved on to checking out drag queen bars in Fort Carson, Colorado, and realized the performers were doing what she had been doing as a youngster \u2014 \u201cmouthing the words to songs.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For a time, she took on the role of a hippie, trying magic mushrooms, opium and LSD. The Denver Pop Festival in June 1969, a precursor to Woodstock, brought in the big rockers such as Joe Cocker, Iron Butterfly, Three Dog Night and Jimi Hendrix. Cassandra and her friend Cindy wandered through hotel rooms looking for bands; she got into bed with a famous drummer, but was kicked out of his room when she refused to have sex with him.\u00a0Later, she was invited into Hendrix\u2019s trailer. He was strumming his guitar, and they smoked a doobie together before he got called to go onstage. She exposed her breasts to the producer in exchange for a part in the Dunes hotel production of \u201cVive Les Girls\u201d! Cassandra was in heaven, donning three pairs of eyelashes, feathers, rhinestones, high heels and bare breasts.<\/p>\n<p>While in Las Vegas, she had numerous celebrity run-ins, to wit:<\/p>\n<p>Crooner Andy Williams who asked her to call him Daddy and forced \u201can open-mouthed, tongue down your throat\u201d kiss. Several years later, she was in Las Vegas, saw his show and went backstage again. \u201cRemember me?\u201d she asked Jones. \u201cYou\u2019re the one with the scars on your back [from the childhood burn],\u201d he said, still annoyed. <\/p>\n<p>Of all people, it was a long conversation with Elvis, who was making his \u201969 comeback in Vegas that changed her life: He wrapped his arms around her, kissed her tenderly and advised: \u201cIf you ever want to make anything out of yourself, never do drugs. When the call came from a friend urging her to audition for the host job for the late-night broadcasts of vintage horror <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a>, she initially balked, but agreed to go and aced the interview. Virtually overnight, Elvira became famous as the undisputed Queen of Halloween. Soon a wax figure of her appeared at Movieland Wax Museum. Her one-and-only marriage was in 1981 to a man who became her manager and producer, a union that would last 25 years.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow the Midwest farm girl who had transformed herself into an iconic figure of the macabre became a lesbian, and that was the deep, dark secret she has kept from her fans \u2013 until now.<\/p>\n<p>But it ended when Cassandra reveals to her readers that she fell in love with her female trainer \u201cT\u201d nearly 20 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt the need to protect Elvira in order to keep my career alive.\u201d\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
