\n North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is conducting a war on words against his countrymen speaking like their neighbors to the south, according to a report.<\/p>\n

Widely screened video lectures showed North Koreans being punished for imitating popular South Korean words and phrases, according to Express which cited a report by Radio Free Asia.<\/p>\n

The videos included people being arrested and interrogated for speaking or writing in the \u201cSouth Korean style\u201d and an insider told Radio Free Asia that \u201cDozens of men and women had their heads shaved and they were shackled as investigators interrogated them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAccording to the speaker in the video, 70 percent of residents nationwide are watching South Korean movies<\/a> and dramas,\u201d the resident of the North Hamgyong province told RFA saying the videos were shown at all institutions in early July.<\/p>\n

The speaker warned \u201cour national culture is fading away.\u201d<\/p>\n

The North Korean insider told RFA that \u201cauthorities will utilize various techniques, including more severe legal punishment, along with ideological education projects, to prevent the further infiltration of South Korean culture.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
