By default, most trackpads on Windows 11 PCs allow you to \u201cclick\u201d by softly tapp<\/a>ing the touchpad surface. If you don\u2019t like this (and would rather use a physical button to click), you can turn it off in Settings. Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n

First, open Windows Settings by pressing Windows+i on your keyboard. Or you can open the Start menu, search for \u201cSettings,\u201d then click the Settings app icon.<\/p>\n

When Settings opens, click \u201cBluetooth & Devices\u201d in the sidebar, then select \u201cTouchpad.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Touchpad settings, scroll down to the \u201cTaps\u201d section and click it to expand the menu. Then uncheck \u201cTap with a single finger to single-click,\u201d \u201cTap with two fingers to right-click,\u201d and \u201cTap twice and drag to multi-select.\u201d<\/p>\n

After that, close Settings. Tap-to-click has been disabled on your Windows 11 touchpad. From now on, you\u2019ll need to perform pointer clicks with your trackpad by either physically pushing down (and clicking) the trackpad itself or by using separate buttons near the trackpad. Good luck!<\/p>\n
