Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous <\/i>is a new game<\/a> from Owlcat that pits players in the shoes, boots, or hooves of a lowly group of adventurers destined for glory. <\/span><\/p>\n

I gave it top marks in my recent review.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But, as it\u2019s a single-player only game, there\u2019s no reason to mention it in our <\/span>Games to play on date night<\/i> series<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m kidding:<\/strong> My wife and I figured out how to make <\/span>Pathfinder: WotR<\/i> (just <\/span>WotR <\/i>from here on out) a cooperative game play experience and we had a blast. <\/span><\/p>\n

For those who aren\u2019t familiar with <\/span>Pathfinder<\/i>, it\u2019s a tabletop roleplaying game that shares some DNA with <\/span>Dungeons & Dragons.<\/i> In video game form, it apes the tabletop experience quite nicely and offers numerous methods of play.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the gist is that you put together a group of adventurers and go around doing quests, killing enemies, obtaining loot, and leveling-up to become a godlike force in a world where godlike forces are actually somewhat common. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve played <\/span>Baldur\u2019s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age: Origins, Pillars of Eternity<\/i> or just about any other \u201cCRPG\u201d title, including <\/span>Diablo<\/i> to a certain extent, you\u2019re already somewhat familiar with the gameplay structure behind <\/span>WotR<\/i>. <\/span><\/p>\n

But <\/span>WotR<\/i> kicks things up to the Nth degree with customization and options. It\u2019s a sandbox for people who don\u2019t give a crap about open worlds. It\u2019s a playground for people who enjoy experimenting with builds and party dynamics. And it has a really cool story that\u2019s worth sharing with a gaming partner.<\/span><\/p>\n

In short, it\u2019s the perfect game to dive into on date night if you and your gaming partner are trying to get lost in a world that feels like it was made just for you.<\/span><\/p>\n

But it\u2019s single-player only. So, you\u2019ll have to get around that first. The good news<\/a> is it\u2019s super simple to do.<\/span><\/p>\n
