{"id":343567,"date":"2021-09-23T20:15:34","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T17:15:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/james-mattis-testifies-in-elizabeth-holmes-theranos-trial\/"},"modified":"2021-09-23T20:15:34","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T17:15:34","slug":"james-mattis-testifies-in-elizabeth-holmes-theranos-trial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/james-mattis-testifies-in-elizabeth-holmes-theranos-trial\/","title":{"rendered":"#James Mattis testifies in Elizabeth Holmes Theranos trial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#James Mattis testifies in Elizabeth Holmes Theranos trial<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>Former US Secretary of Defense James Mattis testified Wednesday in the trial of fallen tech star Elizabeth Holmes, saying the entrepreneur misled him into believing she was on the verge of rolling out a blood-testing breakthrough that he hoped would help save lives of troops in battle.<\/p>\n<p>Mattis\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>earance came during the sixth day of\u00a0a high-profile trial\u00a0in San Jose, California. The US government alleges that Holmes duped sophisticated investors, patients and customers into believing that her startup, Theranos, had developed a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> that could scan for an array of potential health problems with just a few drops of blood. Existing tests <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly each require a vial of blood.<\/p>\n<p>During more than three hours of maskless testimony delivered behind plexiglass, Mattis recalled how impressed he was with Holmes when he first met her in 2011 while still serving as four-star general in the Marine Corps, where he oversaw US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>A few months after retiring from the military in 2013, Mattis joined the Theranos board and also invested some of his own savings in the startup. Holmes maintains her innocence, arguing she poured her life into an invention that she sincerely believed would revolutionize medicine yet failed in her quest.<\/p>\n<p>Holmes, 37, ended up convincing Mattis, 71, to join the Theranos board of directors later in 2013, even though he had no medical background. His disillusionment began a year earlier after a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/theranos-has-struggled-with-blood-tests-1444881901\">explosive articles published in The Wall Street Journal<\/a>\u00a0exposed troubling flaws and inaccuracies in Theranos\u2019 blood-testing technology.
