\n Joseph Belnome used to holiday in Greece and Italy. Now he does Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been to eight Trump rallies since 2016,\u201d said the 44-year-old from Belleville, NJ. \u201cThey\u2019re like vacations for me. This is how I use my vacation days from work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Belnome, an employee of Essex County\u2019s Department of Public Works, proudly calls himself a \u201cFront Row Joe\u201d \u2014 the nickname for supporters who travel<\/a> the country to attend campaign rallies and jockey for a good position.<\/p>\n

\u201cI showed up a day early for a Pennsylvania rally last year and made it on Fox News<\/a>,\u201d Belnome said. \u201cYou\u2019re talking 24 to 30 hours of waiting [at the venue]. You\u2019re exhausted, but .\u2009.\u2009. I want to put my hands on the guardrail.\u201d<\/p>\n

His friends, he admitted, have \u201cthought I was a little crazy, but they respect my dedication.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recently, however, the Front Row Joes have been grounded, with rallies in Alabama and New Hampshire canceled and Trump taking to the Internet for \u201ctelerallies.\u201d The groupies are feeling withdrawal pains.<\/p>\n

Horror-flick actor Edward X. Young said he has attended at least 30 Trump rallies and waited up to 16 hours in line.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sad and disapp<\/a>ointed,\u201d said regular Edward X. Young. \u201cI\u2019ve never had more fun in my life than at these patriotic celebrations.<\/p>\n

If Belnome and Young had their way, they would keep going no matter what. Belnome doesn\u2019t think coronavirus fears should stop a rally: \u201cPeople who are at [higher] risk should stay at home and everyone else should live their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they had a rally in a hurricane, Trump supporters would hang onto a flagpole to hear the president speak,\u201d Young added. \u201cI\u2019ve stood outside rallies in snowstorms and rain for hours to hear the man. We cheer loudly, and I\u2019m usually voiceless the next day. It\u2019s terribly exciting and rewarding.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Young, who works in sales and acts in low-budget horror movies<\/a>, \u201cIt\u2019s the World Series and Super Bowl mixed with New Year\u2019s Eve in Times Square \u2014 a Trump rally is all of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 60-year-old Brick, NJ, resident, who is widowed with no children, told The Post he has attended some 30 of the events. To stay awake and pump himself up, he repeatedly listens to the president\u2019s audiobooks, including \u201cArt of the Deal\u201d and \u201cCrippled America,\u201d while driving in his 2003 Mercury Marquis.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve probably driven 15,000 miles for rallies, which is a lot of gas, tolls and wear and tear on the car,\u201d Young said.<\/p>\n

Once he arrives, he still has lots of time to kill. \u201cI\u2019ll find the line in the dead of night and be prepared to stand or sit for at least 12 to 16 hours to score a good spot,\u201d Young explained. \u201cYou get to develop these friendships online \u2014 you have to.\u201d<\/p>\n

While tickets are free, among hotels, gas and gear, Belnome \u2014 who once had Trump\u2019s name shaved onto the side of his head before a rally in Panama City, Fla. \u2014 said he easily spends $1,000 or more per event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe Trump supporters have jobs and we know how to handle our finances,\u201d said Young. \u201cWhy not spend my money supporting the president and America? You\u2019re supporting the entire free world.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Belnome has watched the virtual rallies online, he said they\u2019re \u201cnot anywhere near the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

And as much as Young likes to get on TV himself, he can\u2019t understand why anyone would just stay home and watch a rally.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do people pay to see film actors on Broadway?\u201d he said. \u201cTo see [the president] live is to witness history.\u201d\n <\/p><\/div>\n
