It\u2019s just that we have never heard them confess or admit to anything.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><cite>A Hollywood insider told The Post the new open-marriage revelations aren\u2019t surprising<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>He even admitted that his wife\u2019s \u201centanglement\u201d with Alsina made it seem like she was the adulterous one, but \u201cthat was not, Smith delicately explained to me, in fact the case,\u201d the GQ writer noted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJada never believed in conventional marriage \u2026 Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up,\u201d Smith said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And then Smith dropped what could be the most annoying celebrity slang since \u201cconscious uncoupling\u201d was made infamous by Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin:\u00a0\u201cThere were significant endless discussions about, what is relational perfection? What is the perfect way to interact as a couple? So, yes, I think that they want to maintain that fa\u00e7ade.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Representatives for the Smiths did not respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Another source close to the family told The Post that the couple was the h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>iest they\u2019ve ever seen them at Pinkett Smith\u2019s 50th birthday party on Sept. 17.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was the best I\u2019ve ever seen her \u2014 happiest I\u2019ve ever seen her. All of her closest friends were there. The two married in 1992, and that same year they had a son, 28-year-old actor Trey Smith, before splitting in 1995.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew [Jada] was the woman I was supposed to be with,\u201d Smith said on \u201cRed Table Talk,\u201d recalling the epiphany he had while at dinner with Zampino.<\/p>\n<p>He <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brides.com\/story\/tbt-will-smith-and-jada-pinkett-smith-1997-wedding\">wed Pinkett Smith on New Year\u2019s Eve 1997<\/a>, which People called \u201cthe most lavish and secretive celebrity wedding of the year.\u201d Jada glowed in a high-necked, champagne-colored, velvet Badgley Mischka gown. We were both miserable and clearly something had to change.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>In 2013, Pinkett Smith led fans to believe that the couple shared an open marriage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always told Will, \u2018You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be OK,\u2019 \u201d <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/jada-pinkett-smith-open-marriage-clarifies-message_n_3085726\">she said on Huff Post Live<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause at the end of the day, Will is his own man. Or vice versa.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Pinkett Smith later <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=10151624226366320&amp;id=51346591319\">took to Facebook to clarify her comments<\/a>: \u201cHere is how I will change my statement \u2026 Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so,\u201d she wrote. \u201cThis does NOT mean we have an open relationship \u2026 this means we have a GROWN one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On a 2020 episode of \u201cRed Table Talk,\u201d the couple <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2020\/07\/10\/jada-and-will-smith-privately-separated-during-august-alsina-tryst\/\">revealed they had quietly separated<\/a> in 2016 when Pinkett Smith became involved with Alsina, now 29, who had gone through a series of health issues, including being diagnosed with liver disease in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>But a Hollywood actress close to the couple claimed that Pinkett Smith took advantage of the situation, telling The Post in 2020: \u201cJada [previously] said she was mentoring him .\u2009.\u2009. what kind of mentoring was she giving him where he felt he gave his all to a relationship that has left him devastated and hurt?,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou did not help him, you helped destroy him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pinkett Smith chalked it up to being \u201cbroken\u201d at the time and looking for fulfillment in others \u2014 but then said she began \u201chealing\u201d her relationship with Smith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe did everything we could to get away from each other, only to realize that\u2019s not possible,\u201d she said in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Around that time, Smith told TIDAL\u2019s Rap Radar podcast that the pair \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/949445\/will-smith-and-jada-pinkett-smith-don-t-call-themselves-quot-married-quot\">don\u2019t even say we\u2019re married anymore.\u201d<\/a> Rather, they considered themselves \u201clife partners.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou get into that space where you realize you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s no deal breakers.
