{"id":346168,"date":"2021-09-30T03:41:54","date_gmt":"2021-09-30T00:41:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/college-student-dies-from-covid-after-resisting-vaccine\/"},"modified":"2021-09-30T03:41:54","modified_gmt":"2021-09-30T00:41:54","slug":"college-student-dies-from-covid-after-resisting-vaccine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/college-student-dies-from-covid-after-resisting-vaccine\/","title":{"rendered":"#College student dies from COVID after resisting vaccine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#College student dies from COVID after resisting vaccine<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/09\/tyler-gilreath-covid-death-233.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"commerce-disclosure\">\n<p class=\"p1\">Sign up for our <span class=\"s1\">special edition <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>letter<\/span> to get a daily update on the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>An unvaccinated 20-year-old sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington died from COVID-19 complications this week after repeatedly resisting to get the shot, his distraught mother said.<\/p>\n<p>Tyler Gilreath tested positive for the illness on Aug. 20 \u2014 just three days after moving onto campus \u2014 and he later developed a debilitating sinus infection that spread to his brain, the student\u2019s mom, Tamra Demello <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsobserver.com\/news\/state\/north-carolina\/article254580002.html\">told the News &amp; Observer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After three weeks of battling serious sickness, and multiple operations, Gilreath was taken off life support on Monday after doctors informed the family he wasn\u2019t going to make it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am devastated beyond belief,\u201d Demello wrote in a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/tamra.demello\/posts\/10159442803189605\">Facebook post announcing the tragic news<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Demello wrote that she \u201ccajoled, encouraged, threatened, and nagged\u201d her son to get vaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>He kept refusing, insisting he wouldn\u2019t get sick as a healthy 20-year-old, the mother said.<\/p>\n<p>But Gilreath finally caved to his mother\u2019s pressure, promising to get the jab once he settled in at college, his mother said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe didn\u2019t get the chance,\u201d the heartbroken mother wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Like many other relatives of COVID-19 victims, Demello is now sounding the alarm in hope of changing the minds of other young people that share her son\u2019s reluctance with the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re just hoping if we can just convince these young people who think they\u2019re invincible, you know, that this active, healthy, not ever really sick kid \u2014 if this can h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>en to him from those complications, that it can happen to them too,\u201d Demello told the News &amp; Observer.<\/p>\n<p>Gilreath was an organ donor and doctors on Monday harvested his heart, liver, kidneys and pancreas, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very thankful that he\u2019ll live on.
