\n Already short on Pro Bowlers, the Giants are cutting one of their few.<\/p>\n

Kicker Aldrick Rosas will be released six weeks after a hit-and-run collision that resulted in three misdemeanor charges in California, as first reported by NFL Network.<\/p>\n

Rosas, 25, was planning to report to training camp Tuesday alongside veteran teammates, including cornerback DeAndre Baker, who was arrested this offseason on felony charges. Baker, a 2019 first-round pick, is flying from Florida to New Jersey today.<\/p>\n

Pending the addition of a new kicker, the Giants enter training with only three players with a Pro Bowl on their resumes. Saquon Barkley, Golden Tate and Leonard Williams were selected once each.<\/p>\n

Rosas won the kicking job as an unknown out of Southern Oregon University in 2017 and experienced three tumultuous seasons, sandwiching a Pro Bowl year in 2018 between two inconsistent seasons. He made 82.7 percent of his field goals, but that number was lifted by his 32-of-33 performance in 2018.<\/p>\n

The Giants retained Rosas as a restricted free agent in the offseason by using the second-round tender, but the one-year, $3.2 million contract was not guaranteed, so there will be no dead salary-cap hit by releasing him.<\/p>\n

Rosas was charged with reckless driving, hit and run property damage and driving on a suspended license due to a previous DUI in California. He does not face any alcohol-related charges despite California Highway Patrol\u2019s noted suspicion alcohol was involved in the crash because he was not given a field sobriety test.<\/p>\n

Police caught up to a bloodied Rosas three hours later walking on the side of the road about a mile from the scene, according to the collision report. He has an arraignment hearing Sept. 4 that does not require an in-person app<\/a>earance and the case is unlikely to be resolved before then.<\/p>\n

Where will the Giants turn for his replacement with no other kicker on the roster?<\/p>\n

The most obvious choice is free agent Stephen Gostkowski, a four-time Pro Bowler who has been one of the best big-game<\/a> kickers in the NFL over the previous 14 seasons with the Patriots. Gostkowski, 36, has made 87.4 percent of his field goals but he spent most of last season on injured reserve (left hip) and was cut in March.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not ready to just hang it up,\u201d Gostkowski told NBCSports Boston in April. \u201cI\u2019m going try to play. It\u2019s going to be tough to show teams what I can do right now or work out or do a physical, but I\u2019m not too worried about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Giants coach Joe Judge was a special teams coach with the Patriots from 2012-19, including five seasons as coordinator.
