{"id":347775,"date":"2021-10-01T20:17:08","date_gmt":"2021-10-01T17:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/whole-foods-john-mackey-to-step-down-as-ceo\/"},"modified":"2021-10-01T20:17:08","modified_gmt":"2021-10-01T17:17:08","slug":"whole-foods-john-mackey-to-step-down-as-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/whole-foods-john-mackey-to-step-down-as-ceo\/","title":{"rendered":"#Whole Foods&#8217; John Mackey to step down as CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Whole Foods&#8217; John Mackey to step down as CEO<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>Whole Foods Markets chief executive John Mackey said he will step down next year from the upscale grocer he co-founded more than four decades ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHonestly, it\u2019s very hard to retire from a company that I have helped to create, nourish and grow for 44 years,\u201d the outspoken executive wrote in a Thursday <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/media.wholefoodsmarket.com\/co-founder-and-ceo-john-mackey-announces-retirement\">blog post<\/a> to employees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll parents reach a time when they must let go and trust that the values imparted will live on within their children,\u201d Mackey added. \u201cThat time has nearly come for me and for Whole Foods.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pioneering grocer said he had hand-picked his successor as CEO, Jason Buechel, four years before Amazon acquired Whole Foods in 2017 for $13.4 billion. Buechel, currently the company\u2019s chief operating officer, joined the company in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The 500-store chain had been struggling before Amazon swooped in. The deal rattled the grocery industry, which feared an armageddon for conventional supermarkets. The best solution is not to need health care.\u201d He also caused a stir when he beseeched other corporate titans last year to condemn <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a>ism, which he dubbed as \u201ctrickle-up poverty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In recent years, Whole Foods has battled labor unions and complaints about its high prices, and was aptly nicknamed \u201cWhole Paycheck\u201d \u2014 an image that it has not yet shaken even as Amazon overhauled some of the less expensive, private-label merchandise.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
