class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>NASA\u00a0is standing down from commanding its\u00a0Mars\u00a0missions for the next few weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While the\u00a0Earth\u00a0and Red Planet are on opposite sides of the\u00a0sun\u00a0\u2013 in the biennial Mars solar conjunction \u2013 the planets are unable to \u201csee\u201d each other.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The sun emits hot, ionized gas from its\u00a0corona\u00a0that extends into space and can obstruct\u00a0radio signals\u00a0and engineers\u2019 commands and communications to\u00a0spacecraft.<\/p>\n<p>NASA\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/feature\/jpl\/nasa-s-mars-fleet-lies-low-with-sun-between-earth-and-red-planet\">explained in a Tuesday release<\/a>\u00a0that most missions will stop sending commands to its Mars spacecraft between Saturday and Oct. 16.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A few will extend the moratorium by a day or two, though that decision is reportedly dependent upon the angular distance between Mars and the sun in the Earth\u2019s sky.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Mars missions will not be fully inactive during this rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/science\/nasas-perseverance-rover-lands-on-mars\">landed in February of this year<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 will take weather measurements with its MEDA (Mars Environmental Dynamics Analyzer) sensors, run its RIMFAX (Radar Imager for Mars\u2019 Subsurface Experiment) radar, capture new sounds with its microphones and look for dust devils with its cameras.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/science\/nasa-ingenuity-mars-helicopter-completes-historic-flight\">ingenuity Mars Helicopter<\/a>\u00a0is not scheduled to fly but will communicate its status to the \u201cPercy\u201d every week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/science\/nasa-curiosity-rover-3000-days-on-mars\">Curiosity Mars Rover<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 which has been on Mars since August 2012 \u2013 will also take weather measurements using its REMS (Rover Environmental Monitoring Station) sensors, look for dust devils with its cameras and take radiation measurements with its RAD (Radiation Assessment Detector) and DAN (Dynamic Albedo of Neutrons) sensors.<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, NASA\u2019s\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/science\/nasas-insight-mars-lander-set-for-seven-minutes-of-terror-as-it-prepares-to-land-on-red-planet\">InSight lander<\/a>\u00a0will continue to use its seismometer to detect temblors and NASA\u2019s three orbiters will all continue relaying some data from the surface missions back to Earth, as well as gather their own\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/sciencee\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"5\" title=\"Science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">science<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough our Mars missions won\u2019t be as active these next few weeks, they\u2019ll still let us know their state of health,\u201d Roy Gladden, manager of the Mars Relay Network at NASA\u2019s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), said in a statement. \u201cEach mission has been given some homework to do until they hear from us again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NASA noted that there would be a temporary pause in raw the remaining data to NASA\u2019s Deep Space Network: an international array of giant radio antennas managed by JPL.<\/p>\n<p>NASA engineers will spend a week <a
