“#How to Control Your Android Phone With Your Face”<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most direct way to use a touchscreen is to, well, touch<\/em> it, but that\u2019s not something everyone can do. Android\u2019s expansive accessibility tools can help you navigate around the phone with only your eyes and facial expressions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Android includes a number of tools for people who can\u2019t interact with touchscreens in the typical ways. Moving around with your voice is a big one, but you can also use your eyes and face with a tool called \u201cSwitch Access.\u201d<\/p>\n

To get started, swipe down from the top of the screen once or twice\u2014depending on your phone\u2014to reveal the Quick Settings menu. Select the gear icon to go to the system settings.<\/p>\n

Next, select \u201cAccessibility\u201d from the settings.<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

Scroll down and find \u201cSwitch Access.\u201d On a Samsung Galaxy phone, it will be under \u201cInstalled Services.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

Toggle \u201cSwitch Access\u201d on if it\u2019s not already enabled.<\/p>\n

\"Toggle<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll be asked to grant Switch Access full control of your device. This is required in order for it to navigate your phone. Tap \u201cAllow\u201d to proceed.<\/p>\n

\"Give<\/p>\n

Select \u201cCamera Switch\u201d as the switch type and tap \u201cNext.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

Next, it will ask to download<\/a> data that is required for it to work. Tap \u201cDownload\u201d to proceed.<\/p>\n

\"Download<\/p>\n

Now you can decide if you want one or two switches. This determines how many gestures you\u2019ll be able to create. We recommend choosing \u201cTwo Switches,\u201d then tap \u201cNext.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

The next step is to choose how to scan, the one we want is \u201cLinear Scanning.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

We can begin choosing the gestures for the different actions. First up is the \u201cNext\u201d action. Select one or more gestures you want to use and tap \u201cNext.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Pick<\/p>\n

Now pick one or more gestures for the \u201cSelect\u201d action and tap \u201cNext.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Pick<\/p>\n

Lastly, select a gesture for \u201cPause.\u201d You can use this whenever you want to stop what\u2019s happening on the screen. Pick one or more gestures and tap \u201cNext.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Choose<\/p>\n

That\u2019s it for picking the gestures, you can give it a try now. You\u2019ll notice a face at the very top of the screen. It\u2019s red when your face isn\u2019t detected, blue when it is. Look at the screen and try the gestures.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the gist of how it works. The gesture you assigned to \u201cNext\u201d can be used to navigate down the screen. Each time you do the gesture, it will highlight the next selectable item. See it in action in the below video from Google:<\/p>\n
