The only people who knew how the force was awakened in him by the epic space odyssey were the two friends who went to see \u201cThe Empire Strikes Back\u201d with him when he was 12.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the time \u2018Star Wars\u2019 was considered nerdy, so I kept the fact that I was a \u2018Star Wars\u2019 fan in the shadows because I was afraid I\u2019d be called a nerd,\u201d Yarde, 53, said. \u201cThat continued through adulthood. I couldn\u2019t find anyone who watched \u2018Star Wars\u2019 as I did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the force remained with Yarde, always, and when the \u201cStar Wars\u201d sequel trilogy debuted in 2015, he bought his older son, Keith, a set of Star Wars Little Golden Books to introduce him to the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> that meant so much to him.<\/p>\n<p>As it turned out, the force runs strong in the Yarde family. Like his father before him, Keith is a \u201cStar Wars\u201d fan, too. Now \u201c10-ish\u201d (he turns 10 in December), Keith has read more than 30 \u201cStar Wars\u201d books and comics, constructed an untold number of \u201cStar Wars\u201d LEGO sets, and seen every \u201cStar Wars TV\u201d series and movie (except for Revenge of the Sith, which is a little too grown-up for him right now).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m kind of an action kid, so I like the fact that there\u2019s a lot of action in \u2018Star Wars,\u2019\u201d Keith said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram\"\/>But when the pandemic and quarantine hit last year, action was in short supply at their King of Prussia home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLife just became very redundant for us. Work, school, eat dinner, get up, do it again,\u201d said Yarde, an assistant vice president at a financial institution. \u201cI could just see that my sons, Keith especially, he was losing interest in virtual learning and it started to show.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Yarde and his wife, Tanya Manning-Yarde, who also have a younger son, Maceo, talked about what they could do to boost Keith\u2019s morale. Around the same time, the second season of The Mandalorian came out on Disney+ and following every episode, the father and son would dissect each story in detail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe conversations would start before breakfast or when we\u2019re having lunch or dinner. It didn\u2019t matter if we were outside or going to the park, we talked about \u2018Star Wars\u2019 all the time,\u201d Yarde said. \u201cWe just needed some encouragement. \u2018Star Wars\u2019 has done that for me throughout my years and it\u2019s doing that for us now as a family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After filming one of their conversations at the dinner table, Manning-Yarde suggested that her husband and son start a \u201cStar Wars\u201d podcast. Hesitant at first, they agreed when they came home one day and found she\u2019d purchased all the necessary podcast equipment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>laud her for her belief in us before I believed in it,\u201d Yarde said.<\/p>\n<p>In March, Yarde and Keith <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ixPIJsQ5Hjg\">launched \u201cFather and Son: A \u2018Star Wars\u2019 Podcast,\u201d<\/a> the title of which is a nod to Darth Vader\u2019s line in \u201cThe Empire Strikes Back\u201d: \u201cJoin me, and together we can rule the galaxy together as father and son.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"From a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Father. Son. Galaxy&#039;s Love Letter to Star Wars\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ixPIJsQ5Hjg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>They record the show at their home for release on most podcast platforms and Manning-Yarde films accompanying videos for <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a>. Listed as the show\u2019s producer, Manning-Yarde makes sure the seating, lighting, and audio are correct, and she lightens the mood before recording by performing a \u201ccrab dance,\u201d which always makes her son giggle.<\/p>\n<p>Keith, who took an online course in video editing last year and loves making stop-motion movies with LEGOs, does all the editing, music, and title credits for the series.<\/p>\n<p>From \u201cStar Wars\u201d books, TV episodes, and movie reviews to interviews with people in the \u201cStar Wars\u201d universe and character studies of Anakin and Luke Skywalker, their show touches on all things \u201cStar Wars\u201d and explores the series\u2019 many themes, including obstacles, love, loyalty, and failure.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, they interviewed the producers for the upcoming <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/disneyplus.bn5x.net\/nOQGR\">Disney+<\/a> show \u201cStar Wars: Visions\u201d and, in August, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=cD4-E3RWo7Q\">their guest Mark Daniel<\/a> \u2014 who works for Disney Entertainment and hosts the fan convention, Star Wars Celebration \u2014 surprised Keith with a personal message from Ashley Eckstein, who voices his favorite character, Ahsoka Tano, in \u201cThe Clone Wars\u201d animated series.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>\u201cI was just in awe. I\u2019m still star-struck! I never thought that the character that had always been my favorite would send me a personal message,\u201d Keith said. \u201cIt\u2019s awesome. Who\u2019s next. Mark Hamill? Harrison Ford?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While their interviews and reviews are thoughtful and informative, the real joy of Kerwin and Keith Yarde\u2019s series comes from their interactions together. The show\u2019s heart lies in the love this father and son share not only for \u201cStar Wars,\u201d but for each other.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s me and my son bonding, it\u2019s no different than a father taking his son to a sports <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>,\u201d Yarde said. \u201cIn my case, it\u2019s me and my son talking about \u2018Star Wars.\u2019 That\u2019s what \u2018Star Wars\u2019 is about, family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s resonated with many of the people who\u2019ve reached out to say they love their podcast because it reminds them of spending time with their own father.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got another message from a man who said \u2018I didn\u2019t have a father in my life, but if I did, I\u2019d want to have the type of relationship you and Keith have,\u2019\u201d Yarde said. \u201cThat\u2019s powerful and I had no idea I could impact people in that way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yarde and Keith are also affecting how the \u201cStar Wars\u201d fan base is represented. While there\u2019s always been diversity among fans, there\u2019s often been a lack of diversity in representation, Yarde said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/star-wars-dad-son-1-E7JDjshXIAA1JU4-copy.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"&quot;We talked about 'Star Wars' all the time,\u201d the elder Yarde said of his and his son's mutual franchise fandom. \u201cWe just needed some encouragement.
