\nMyanmar hip hop group Rap Against Junta hopes to rally rapp<\/a>ers around the world to join the \u201cSpit Against Junta\u201d rap movement, which invites MCs and the \u201cvoices of the oppressed\u201d to submit a 16-bar freestyle over a providedfree beat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On September 23, Thai hip hop collective Rap Against Dictatorship shared the beat and called for Thai rappers to participate. \u201cWe need everyone\u2019s voice,\u201d they wrote in Thai.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the violence and casualties we are facing every single day, directly or indirectly, we believe that expressive rap music is still a powerful weapon to fight against dictators,\u201d Rap Against Junta wrote of the rap movement.<\/p>\n

Because of the varying censorship laws in many Asian countries, the group made it clear that they are willing to lend their platform to artists who wish to remain anonymous. \u201cWe make sure of your safety and security. We advise some of the artists who could be at risk to creatively hide your identity,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n
